Excellent videos thanks... I spent 5 summers in Greek Islands when we were backpacking round the world but living in the UK, always came back to Perissa Beach as a base on Santorini as it was a bit out of the way, a quick trip on bke to the other towns and at that time had a great campground, we would stay for a couple weeks then move onto other islands each summer. Love all these great tips and a great site...thank you for reliving for me a fantastic memory of these islands..hopefully back in summer 25 from NZ

I went to Santorini last September, and going back there in three weeks time for 10 day. I would say the Sunset Boat Trip is the best way to see the Sunset. Oia was heaving with people trying to get that Insta shot of the setting sun, so we paid 95 euros for the boat, meal and drink. Some really good restaurants, one I would recommend is Pelican Kipos, quality food and a good price as well. Some would say Santorini is over rated, its not, its a jewel of the Aegean. One island that is very chilled, with a lovely night time atmosphere, well worth the visit

You need to be able bodied as there are many flights of steps in Santorini but it's a lovely place.

Whatever you do there, please do NOT support the donkey rides! These donkeys are very heavily mistreated every day. They are not able to drink water that they need, while riding steps non stop for 12 hours a day in the very hot sun. There is no animal protection service there, but there should be!!!

Not true. Donkeys or burros are pack animals literally created to climb and haul. Santorini that you love was built on the backs of burros. They don’t climb all day.

We've been there twice before and going again this summer. Fira has not been a problem for parking, oia on other hand has one parking lot before you enter the main town and its better if you go early because it fills up quickly

To the people who say don’t ride the donkeys, the donkeys are beasts of burden. Donkeys were made to climb and to carry. It’s not abuse. The entire island was built with these animals. Literally the streets of the island were made on the backs of these animals. @ Rob; Trip Advisor is a great app to use for Restaurant & their prices . If you choose to eat @ any of the Restaurants over looking the Aegean sea ; over the kaldera; it will be costly . At least 60 Euros or more for a full meal . Thira & Oía are generally very expensive; Perissa is on the outskirts & more affordable. We just visited in May & the taxi drivers say this is A good time to visit . Mid June , all of July & August ; it’s really crowded & much more Expensive. Early March, April, May & September are best times to visit as the the crowds are less .

They may be strong animals but do you think it’s enjoyable for them to trudge up and down so many steep steps constantly all day in extreme heat without adequate shade, water, food. It is torture for them. Imagine how you would feel in their place. You just have to look at them to see they are unhappy. Many have open sore wounds on their backs from where the seat rubs. Camels are also mistreated in Egypt by the way. I suggest you do some research and don’t be so narrow minded, and also realise that animals are sentient beings and shouldn’t be slaves for humans or be abused.
