Canterbury is beautiful. We’ve visited twice from Canada. We had a great time each time. The two train stations made it easy to travel to other locations such as London as well.

For locals the chaotic traffic in the city and high parking charges are a big put off. Although living 2 miles outside Canterbury we prefer to shop in Ashford. It can take a good 30 minutes to get through the city ring road to the big outlying stores as the city doesn't have a bypass and no decent stores. The town centre shops are mainly for tourists
