Best Time To Water - Garden Quickie Episode 157

The Most Universal Of Gardening Tasks...Watering! All plants need water, but did you know there is a more optimal time in the day to be watering your favorite crops? Trust me, there is, and it can make a huge difference!
In today's Quickie, we'll look at what time of day is best for watering, as well as why that is. There's 3 main reasons and if you blink, you'll miss them!

It figures the morning huh. I for one take priority in the morning. Coffee before the sun shines in my old eyes. In the evening it’s different. I’m chomping at the bit to inspect water and admire. I water through a 1” pvc so never splash. I personally think absorption is more efficient minus sun beating down all day

I water the leaves often. It rains and they get wet, and at all different times of the day so a little water doesn't typically hurt the leaves.

Just watered here, have to use some form of tray system because everything is in pots. I still water from the bottom when I can.

Hi Jeff, my mother passed 3 weeks ago and I’ve bought a potted hybrid rose for her grave - I’m so grateful for the information on watering but I have one question (maybe it’s a stupid question but I genuinely don’t know) - the instructions are to cut the rose right back from October to March and I’m wondering if during these winter months, if the rose will still need watering? I’m assuming, living In Ireland where it rains A LOT! that I can forgoe watering on these days but do I continue to water if we do happen 🙏 to have a dry spell? Thanks in advance x
