"Plan out your building and understand how bugs attack." Yeah, that's what I'm looking all over KZbin for is a video where someone explains some of this stuff to new players. There's approximately a million videos discussing the best sites and then for some reason no one seems to want to explain how to actually build a base, how to make multiple levels, how to make strong defenses, etc, all the stuff I need to know.

in my current playtrhough my base is on top of the baseball. i know thats a “early game” location but its works well for me: its in a central location and hostile bugs dont go there except the occasional wolf spider or lawn mite. right now im trying to figure out how to make a good cheap zipline system so i can get between my mini pond base and the baseball. a lot of the flat stone locations kind of scare me because theyre so close to the upper yard. and the wood fence by the oak tree is scary too because of the orb weavers. i have a small base for sap collection next to the old ant hill which ive found is pretty safe.
@EpicPins5 ай бұрын
Yeah I understand the fear … I like the wall because you already start high so ziplines are easy from there, cause you don’t have to build so high
@ZeroTodal2 жыл бұрын
My trustiest base area is the first research station you find next to the baseball. I built in that area when the game first came out and it worked pretty well and then i started playing the game again a week or two ago and built there again and the only annoyance i found was around day 5-6 or somewhere around the beginning a wolf spider visited. Thats pretty much it though its a really good build spot not so much for resources but good for safety and convenience with researching and its in the middle of the map so thats a plus.

I definitely like the area and most people do start there but just not sure if they are gonna mess with raids or not. If they increase it slightly than might have a problem with protection in the beginning

There's a large lilypad where you can build a modest base, it's accessible over a thin branch. You don't need walls there, as no land creature can get to you. It's a relatively central location as well.

@@EpicPins At least for a beginning, since it doesn't fulfil an urge to build that much :) I still remember the first time I've made a base there: I was out exploring, low on all stats and I believe health as well. Night time arrived. Roaming around wasn't an option anymore - I needed a shelter. At that time I've made a discovery of that can, so I stopped near it, looking for water and something to eat. Wanting a bit more protection I tried to move my campfire inside the can. I could. And then it hit me: I can build? Here? I've build a couple of scaffolding to test it out. And by that point I already knew what am I going to do next. Move my entire storage from the starting location to here and build a new base. Sorry for a medium-sized story that no one asked for

@solidmoon82662 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about best location for a starter base. Its gotta be either the baseball or the soda can right by Oak Tree (the one with the molar under it). I find the wood post is too impractical with the orb weavers constantly being aggro and making it difficult for you to enter and leave. Ya you can watch them but having tk wait for an opening just to enter and leave your base isn't ideal at all.
@Courtneywiemann2 жыл бұрын
I built an enclosure around most of the post with multiple exits, with my base mostly facing the tree. I also built stairs all the way down the log edging to the mill carton, giving me a safe space to shoot the orb weavers from if need be, or just to observe and safely drop down when needed. There's a stick leaning on the logs that I use to run up with stacks of grass (which I chop down from on top of the logs), then safely carry full pallets back to this base. I can also safely retreat here to kill the stinkbugs that love to nap in the dry grass. I agree it is a hostile area, but the height is a huge help, and there are TONS of resources. I have small bases all over, but this is my main resource and storage base, with ziplines to the main base I'm building on the pond edge near here.

So sometimes the ground glitch and doesn’t support the item placed on it so the game thinks it’s hovering and can’t support another item .
