I applaud you for being able to maintain a relaxer in this day and age. I am in my early 60's and wore relaxers consistently from high school until my early 50's. I suffered from crown alopecia for the last 10 years of my relaxed days. During my career job I used a curling iron practically everyday to get it bone straight for the work day. That alopecia made me go natural once I retired and now being natural since 2015, I was still having issues with retaining length until I ran across an influencer with my hair type who has offered tips and products for length retention. With that, and after practically 20 years my alopecia is trying to fill in and my natural hair now is shoulder length and I am finally able to appreciate it. I say that to say enjoy your relaxed hair and continue to take care of it. Another thing that caused me a lot of damage with my relaxed hair was trying to keep it dyed as I walked into my late 40's and 50's since I was graying. Funny thing is now and 61, I no longer dye my hair and I don't have as much gray as I did while still working. My natural hair color I find is a dusty brown now but I'm embracing it. But I do miss my relaxed hair. 😢

Hello curious which influencer is it please? I have what seems like the same issue with my natural hair. ( yes I love Dom, so I follow her even though I am natural we no intention on going back to relaxers)😅

@@itsteatime6805 She's 'If she so pleases'. Her hair is down her back and she has 4b hair, which has a tendency to be very fragile, in which I also have. She gives good tips.

THANK YOU for this video, I am a MALE (I know that I’m a teenie weenie portion of your subscribers)…I have been relaxed now for 4.5 years and I got the same thing (mostly from Black people of WHY I went the Relaxer route…(I’ve have had Relaxed hair for most of my adult life (every now and then I would shave it all off and then get sick of BLENDING in with other Black man, or “2” hours in the shower trying to detangle my long natural hair..besides I just like how I look with a relaxer and the upkeep is far more accessible, maintainable, etc…for me. I’m sure this video will get a lot of Likes, because like ALL of your videos they are very Informative! THANKS again.❤

I really enjoyed your tips on first relaxers Dom. I have two teenage daughters with different hair types. One wants her hair relaxed now and I am unclear what products to use because back in the day there wasn't much info around on relaxed hair. So your video is very helpful. Thank you very much Dominique. You are awesome! 🎉

It really is but it does have a lot of protein in it. I use it sparingly now.
@Ultimate_Onyx12 күн бұрын
@@StyleDomination yeah I had the same issue you did. My hair was turning hard for overusing, I had to use no protein products for 3 weeks and I recently used protein after relaxing a day or two ago. But I’m not going to use any for the next two weeks

I love watching your channel! But I'm curious about your porosity. I know you love thick creamy conditioners and your hair loves it. I know relaxers break down the hair so it makes it somewhat "high porosity". Protein overload was something you dealt with and porosity has a lot to do with that sometimes. Can you do a video on porosity? And what is your hair porosity? Id love to know your thoughts and opinions on porosity😊

I got relaxed in 1994 I was 14 I'm around the same age as you, I'm natural now because I was thinning in my crown bad went natural in 2017 natural hair takes work also mine tangles alot wash day is a pain I dread it tried prepoo all kinds of stuff I flat iron my hair once every few months doesn't last and it's work I liked the simplicity of relaxed hair throw in a bun or ponytail little effort wash day was simple deep condition air dry my hair was long health until.I started having hormonal issues and low iron I didnt address led to permanent thinning in crown great tips definitely take supplements monitor vitamin level

@StyleDomination definitely because most hair loss is due to lack of nutrients and vitamin deficiency nobody told me this in my 20s early 30s and my hair suffered most energy was always low also so definitely starts with out internal health 😊

Hi Classy Style Queen, Yes, if I was able to make my childhood self decisions. I did have a hair stylist from the age of 8, but she was my "grandmother" stylist. 🫣 I learned on my friends and their family who were cultural, I.e. Bo Derek. 😂 Now natural, protective, and extremely skeptical. 😂 Peace & Luv ❤️🔥 I am...
