Important note: UTQG or Treadwear rating aren’t to be cross compared between brands. They are only really useful to compare wear within the same brand of tire.

Glad to find your opinion on these. My new 24 MYP came with them(the all seasons) and I've gotten caught in the hype on the Hankook Ion Evos curious if it's better to switch to those. I'm personally at 283 for efficiency in 850 miles and I think that will be a lot better over time because I'm still in the 'let's floor it' stage 😂

For Nordic countries, these are my personal opinions on noise/comfort/grip in dry/wet/snow & ice/ range. Where I put comfort as a priority. Summer tires : Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance 2 = 225/50-18 Winter tires: Goodyear Ultragrip Ice 2 = 225/50-18.

I think the best tires for any car and not just Tesla are the ones you get best grip and make your ride safer. Range and noise are just secondary things to look at. I always kept that mentality for decades, with my Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo, then each of my Lexus IS350 that I leased for years, and now, for my Tesla Model 3 Performance. With my Tesla, I opted to sell the stock wheels and tires as soon I got the car (2022 model) and I got the T Sportline Arachnid Package, which are staggered 20"x8.5" front and 20"x10" rear with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S Performance Summer tires without the noise cancelation inserts (no need for winter tires, I live in sunny South Florida). Grip is very good, performance is just excellent. How long will they last? As long as they need to last. Do they make noise? Not really, I think they are just fine, besides, I like to either listen to music nice and loud, or listen to my audio books, so I don't really care about a bit of noise. Range? Yes, I recharge when I need to recharge, don't go crazy looking for extra 10 miles, that is just stupid. Cheers.

My M3 came with the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. After 41,000 kms (25,000 miles) I replaced them with Hankook iON Evo tyres. They seem a bit quieter and are supposed to have more grip and extend the car's range. I will report back in 41,000 kms. Actually, I think that the Hankook tyres are guaranteed for 50,000 kms in your country.

One thing about Tire Rack comparisons: these are compiled based on consumer--not necessarily expert consumer--ratings. You have to take them with a grain of salt. I've always had great results with Continentals (I have used them almost exclusively on my Mustang Shelby GT500). Now that I'm contemplating tires for my MYLR, Continentals are once again on my list. I don't really care about winter/snow performance and treadwear is only a moderate concern. So these user stats don't affect me much. I live in the hottest part of the Sonora Desert in Southern California: my Y will never see snow or serious cold, and only occasionally wet. What I care about is dry traction and comfort. That said, I'm not committed to any one brand . . . and I'd really like to hear more about wheel downsizing. I currently have the 20s, and I want to switch to at least 19s, or, more likely, 18s.

2:25 I absolutely can't believe regen braking is affected at all by tire stickiness!?! How does pulling 54kwh out of the brakes possibly change with different tires. The on board computer controls max regen pull and that chain of command doesn't care about tires. If there was an emergency panic stop button on the dash that could actually lock up the wheels using regen alone (no pads) then I would believe you. But we are talking about a mild braking event with one pedal driving. Taking this further, just imaging if one-pedal driving could first do mild, then medium, then strong, then lock 'em up, then full reverse.

-The tires gauge 10/32 new. The tech "didn't have trouble" gauging them. I have a tire gauge, too, as well as these tires. I am down to 6/32 front, and 7/32 rear, at 8K miles in my Volvo C40 (402hp/485tq). -It's sidewall construction that gives soft/firm ride quality. -1-pedal driving comes nowhere near close enough to the traction threshold to "slow quicker". You are slowing quicker because these tires have more rolling resistance. -You see an increase in wh/mi due to the new tires having more "tread squirm" which is lost energy, until the tread wears down a bit. Nearly dead tires are the most efficient for this reason. -I went from new Pirelli Zeros to these tires, and saw nearly no efficiency hit. Going from used to new tires always gives you a hit. -You didn't touch on this, but these tires did very well for me in the snow. I have driven LX25's and CC2's in the snow, as well. I'd say these do 75-85% as well. They are plenty competent to deal with moderate dustings in the Midwest. Snow traction was plenty good. Ice traction was meh.

Some folks are saying these tires don't fit right on their Tesla Model Y's because the stock rims stick too far out away from the tires and are prone to curb rash. I know that you have aftermarket wheels that you scored at a great price, but, if you are recommending these Pilot Sports to folks with stock Gemini wheels you may be doing them a disservice. Some of these folks have put these on only to take them back because of the way the tire seems to shrink inward away from the edge of the rims leaving the rims exposed and "it just doesn't look right."
