TITANIUM WATCHES
Titanium watches are trending, with some of the biggest brands, like Omega, Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Tudor, and more adding the contemporary metal finish to their portfolios.
While Rolex has featured Titanium on the case back of the Deepsea for a few years now, it wasn’t until 2022 that the brand finally released its first all-titanium watch via the new model Deepsea Challenge.
With the new Rolex release comes renewed interest in titanium watches. This video will focus on the titanium trend by featuring our favorite watches.
TITANIUM VS STAINLESS STEEL
Titanium and stainless steel are some of the most popular metal finishes in the industry. Neither one is better than the other, but there are many pros and cons for each.
Titanium is more expensive than steel to produce and often commands a higher price. On the other hand, titanium is also more prone to scratching than steel, and when the metal finish does scratch, it’s much more noticeable than steel because of its natural oxide coating.
However, scratches on titanium are much easier to buff out than on steel.
Both metals also have much different aesthetics. Titanium is matte in appearance, while steel is shinier and glitzier.
More importantly, Titanium is much lighter than stainless steel by about to 30%. This fact alone may or may not be a deal breaker for many luxury watch enthusiasts.
TITANIUM WATCHES
Panerai Luminor Marina
The Panerai Luminor Marina is characterized by the brand’s trademark cushion-shaped case, over-sized crown guard, and bold hour markers. The larger case makes titanium a brilliant choice with its lighter weight.
Oris Aquis
The Oris Aquis is a pillar of the brand’s dive watch category, featuring a 60-minute uni-directional bezel, luminous hour markers and hands, and substantial water resistance. What makes the watch featured in our video even more exceptional is the fact that it also features a sleek titanium finish. It’s a contemporary iteration of an absolute classic.
As an Oris watch, the titanium Aquis is also quite easy on the wallet without sacrificing the prestigious Swiss-made quality many seek.
Tudor Pelagos
The Tudor Pelagos dive watch is always distinguished by a titanium finish. Tudor’s trademark snowflake hands and square-shaped hour markers adorn the dial, making it instantly recognizable. The collection features a couple of notable variations, including a black or blue dial and bezel and a left-hand edition, which features the crown on the left side of the case.
Grand Seiko Heritage
Grand Seiko is largely defined by its remarkable attention to detail and innovative movements. The brand is the personification of understated elegance, embracing minimalist design elements. The Heritage is no exception. The titanium Grand Seiko is a work of art, from the masterful polished finish on the case to the sharply faceted hour markers and hands.
Omega Seamaster
Omega has a storied history with the James Bond Franchise, taking over the reins in 1995 and continuing their partnership today. The daring British Secret Service Agent is quite fond of the Omega Seamaster. His watch is often tricked out with the latest Q branch technology, such as bezel lasers and bomb detonators.
The recent 007 film No Time To Die is Daniel Craig’s last portrayal of Bond. In the film, he wears a striking vintage-inspired titanium Seamaster, which Craig himself played a part in designing. He chose titanium because it is lightweight and opted for vintage elements as a nod towards James Bond’s military past.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak is absolutely iconic. Features include an octagonal bezel decorated with visible screws, a sleek integrated bracelet, and AP’s signature waffle pattern dial, also known as “Grande Tapisserie.”
The example featured in our video is a rather striking edition of the Royal Oak featuring a titanium finish and a stunning silver and blue dial.

great question! All of the watches shown are in 100% working condition. A manual watch will appear to not be running if it wasn't wound ahead of filming.
