Great demo of adjusting reeds and using the reed geek tools. I will look into getting one of those tools, the bullet looks very useful. Your video is very well made there......cutie!!!!!!

Jay Metcalf won't answer my question about making the underside flat - maybe you can? Your "proof" for improving the flatness of your reed was by observing the 18mm line, and with a simple inhale "seal" test. This is not proof. You would have had the same two pieces of evidence before scraping the reed. If we could examine the roughness of the reed before you scraped it under a microscope, versus after scraping it, we would see two different versions of a Not Flat reed. Maybe the surface is smoother after scraping, but the only way to confirm that it is flat would be to lay it upon something that actually IS flat, and shine a light into the crack to see if the light comes through the allegedly flat reed. Thank you very much for being a professor of clarinet, but also able to speak and teach without upbraiding us. This was a great video, even though it does not address my question.

What setup are you using - mouthpiece & ligature?

Hi! I have a link to the products featured in my setup in the video description. It looks like I was officially using the D'Addario Evolution mouthpiece with the Silverstein HEXA in rose gold and D'Addario Reserve Classic Reeds.
