As a pet sitter, I have a secret weapon...
...
My secret weapon is crispy salmon skin! I love it myself, but when I'm dog sitting, I settle for just the salmon and make the skin for my doggo friends. They LOVE it. And it's a healthy snack too.
...
Easy to Make:
1. Line the pan with parchment paper or foil and cooking spray.
...
2. Rinse and season the salmon. *It is important not to season the skin with anything like garlic, onions, spices etc., To be extra cautious, I usually just season the salmon lightly to avoid anything dangerous cooking into the skin, and just salt the skin.
...
3. Place salmon, skin side down, on the pan
...
4. Cook for 8-10 minutes in a hot oven 400 or 425 degrees.
...
5. When the salmon is cooked, use a spatula to remove the meat from the skin.
...
6. Return the pan with the skin to the oven for another 5-10 minutes. I usually turn the oven off and leave it in there while I eat. Keep an eye out not to burn it.
...
7. Cool and remove from paper/foil.
Obviously they'll be happy to eat it immediately. Otherwise, refrigerate for later.
...
Makes a great hiking snack (unless you're afraid to smell like bear bait).
...
Note that some cats like this. But I've found they might prefer the little bits of fish that are left attached to the skin. Something for everyone XXOO
