Sure glad I forked over the extra money for the exact one you got. Still pretty far till I get to install the tub on my remodel but I'm looking forward to it. Also an extra benefit is if something need to be worked on behind the tub its not as much work to move it.

Thank you for sharing Bob. I just started the rough in on a customer remodel in Roswell, they're using this free standing tub so naturally most of the day was spent contemplating the final connection using colorful words under my breath with lots of ????. Her tub has a drain which is centered, and the manufacturer install instructions says to make the final connection from under the floor! Gives us an idea how some of the manufacturers think...... anyway, there is a garage under this tub with 10' ceiling and that was the plan until I decided to look you up on my subscription list. Glad I did because I have a new plan now! I think the water supply to the freestanding faucet is straight forward enough, the main concern I found there is the clearance (Goldilocks theory) so the handles don't conflict with the side of the tub. Make sure your tail piece is not to long or you will have clogging problems or possibly damaging your trap and drain assembly. Not all trap heights are the same, especially if you are doing remodel to existing plumbing.

Most Plumbers I have talked to mention using clear silicone on the bottom of the tub to lock it in place to the tile floor....so you set the tub in wet silicone, make final adjustments to the tub, wipe up any excess silicone that you can see, and then let it dry for 24-48 hours. One good accidental bump to a light acrylic tub that is only held in place by a drain pipe can lead to a massive flood in the bathroom, via a cracked drain pipe

@@StarrTile Good grief, why on earth not ? I can't imagine these drop-in drain kits provide any more tolerance for movement and the stress placed on the the brass tail-piece, than a regular ABS Slip-In P-Trap Hub ? Anchoring, as best, with silicone is a must.

Would you put a small piece of flooring in the spot in the back to cover the rest of the hole? In case you were in the water and it splashed out?

Although it would be highly unlikely that any water would come out and over, if it did that drain has a funnel effect and should catch any residual. I would be apprehensive about tiling all the way around the neck of the drain, but perhaps on the next one I will try that

It's actually extremely easy, compare that to trying to align the drain with the P-trap riser, this makes it a no-brainer

Did you cap the overflow? Or it goes into the main drain higher up?

The Overflow is tied into the drain underneath

Yes that is supposed to be done in order to Anchor and stabilize, in this case the homeowner either did it after I was gone or it didn't get done at all, I know we had spoken about it and he declined

I suppose if you tried really hard to get below grade and cut out an area then you could pack in some mortar around it and make it work but certainly more difficult than with wood subfloor

Don't know why it would not come in the package but you can buy it from any plumbing supply place, it's just a gel that keeps things supple

True... there's always going to be a markup when it's made in China no matter what it is. But it's a one-time use thing so they got to get it while they can, and it is truly awesome and a timesaver

@@StarrTile lol yeah I just invested in a really nice all black soaking tub from akdy and I don't know if it has that included with tub. I might try calling them tommorow because I don't want to wait another week once I get the tub here and everything is ready. Restoring a 1940s house I bought while living in it. Bathroom and kitchen are of course up first and I found out my og cast iron is still intact and I can do fun stuff this winter. Merry Christmas to you. I thought some of the sanetees we're expensive for my 4 in PVC. I just choked on my saliva a little when I saw how much this single thing costs it just seems comical. I got the whole ceiling open below the second floor which is tub floor so I might try to look for something more straightforward. I don't know if the rubber is reusable on that gasket. Guess you hope so.
