If you've ever watched courtroom shows, they basically pay people to take their small claims on the air, which means these are tiny trivial cases usually for less than $5,000 in damages, and the people involved are representing themselves, so they have basically no legal or public speaking experience. So they're really really bad at explaining their cases, which often get really convoluted and full of irrelevancies and minor quibbles. In this case, we don't know what is being sued over, but it apparently involves snakes, chihuahuas, and water damage. The plaintiff, when pressed even slightly, then also admits that the water damage was from sprinklers that went off because of an 'unrelated popcorn fire.' So basically, whatever he's suing over, he tacked the water damage on just because he didn't want to admit fault for that. Which is exactly what regular people in small claims courts do.
