In this video I will give you my thoughs based on experience playing mesh heads with wooden drumsticks and sticks with nylon tips.
I think that a bad condition of your drumstick tip can do harm to your mesh head. The threads of the mesh head will break and finally you will get a hole in your mesh head.

Very helpful, Rob! You've brought up some points about the sticks and mesh heads I've never considered. I'm glad you use the coated sticks, too! I haven't lost control of one ever!!

Ed Molloy thank you so much for your comments Ed and I'm glad you liked this video. The coated sticks are really great but there is one negative thing when I use them. I get blisters in my hand because of using them, do you have that to?😎👍👊
@minusdrumsPlusEd
@minusdrumsPlusEd 5 жыл бұрын
@@biekanez1 yes, same here, Rob! I play with the coated sticks sparingly (only when it's critical that I dont drop a stick) because of the same issue. And, of course, I make an effort not to hold them too tight.

When I played an acoustic kit for a living I went through a case of sticks per week. I played the same sticks on my E-kit for two years. Lol!

Gray Ghost Drum Covers yes I know what you are meaning Gray. I bought when I was about 18 or 19 years old some cheap sticks for 1 or 2 dollars a pair. They were so bad that I hardly could play a few songs with them. They already broke by looking at them.🤣 have a great week my dear friend 😎👍👊🍺

Are you using rubber rim on the snare? I find, I destroy different types of manufactured rubber rims that are available. So I removed the rubber and I'm blowing through sticks where they splinter in 3-4 days because of rim shots, leaving a mess all over the mesh heads, errrrr.

Thank you Rob. I’ve been using wood tip sticks on VDrum mesh heads for over 11 years and have not experienced any wear on the tips. Could be that I keep changing sticks from time to time. I also prefer Maple which is lighter than hickory. Keep drumming my friend!

rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato when I only had Roland heads I didn't had that issue also. The surface of the Roland heads are more smooth I think. They won't harm your sticks. Have a Greet week Sal👍😎🤜

Great tips for eDrummers Rob! I'm currently using Vic Firth American Classic X55A sticks with wood tips and I find as long as you check the tip for any chips or sharp edges before you buy it then it's ok. I haven't had any problems so far. But I agree the nylon tips are a good option.

Yes you are right my friend/Badger. Before I played the Drum Tec toms I had also no problems with my wooden Vic Firth sticks. I played 1 pair for 3 or 4 years. But the mesh heads of the Roland pads are more smooth, that's why I had no problems before. It's only because the Real feel mesh heads are more rough like sand paper. Some people don't understand why their mesh heads will have holes in it after a while, this is the cause I think. Have a great day my friend!

@@biekanez1 Ah ok now I understand. I haven't played on the Drum-tec Real feel heads. My Drum-tec snare has their Design Series 2-ply mesh head and I've not had a problem with it yet (touch wood - and pardon the pun 😉😂).

In a few days I will upload another video of something new I bought. I think you will like it. I will visit your channel tomorrow to watch your new videos. Have a great week with your family Steve👍👊🍺😎

I've found nylon tips don't scuff-up rubber cymbal pads as do the wood tips. Wood tips tend to leave more scuff marks on the pads, from my experience. Thanks
