The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic league in the United States. Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, the ACC sanctions competition in twenty-five sports in Division I of the NCAA for its twelve member universities: Boston College Eagles, Clemson Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Maryland Terrapins, Miami Hurricanes, North Carolina Tar Heels, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Virginia Cavaliers, Virginia Tech Hokies, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In 2011, the conference announced it was adding Syracuse and Pittsburgh to expand to fourteen members beginning in the 2013 academic year. In 2012, the ACC announced it would add Notre Dame in all sports but football and hockey.

The Stackhouse drive and dunk over Cherokee Parks was classic but one of the most memorable moments was the opening game at the Smith Center when Steve Hale litteraly took charge and scored 28. The most classic play had Hale in the paint as the lone Carolina defender in a 3 on 1 fast break with Hale drawing the charge denying Duke an easy layup and instead shooting foul shots from the other end !

I can do you one better and it was the ultimate posterize if your old enough to remember - Stackhouse's ridiculous baseline reverse side dunk at Cameron Indoor in '95! That play, and not only in the rivalry, has very few peers PERIOD!

I've been watching this rivalry since the early '80s! It's numero uno in terms of the best in all of sports! Best moment - Jerry Stackhouse's hellacious reverse side baseline dunk at Cameron in 1995! I can still hear Dickie V saying "Are u serious America"! His athleticism was off the charts!

@@carolinewall3678 Caroline, like I said I have always remained impartial as a college basketball fan, but I'm stating a fact from having experienced up close the way the majority of Carolina fans treat all fans from other allegiances! I lived on Tobacco Road (Concord outside Charlotte along with attending Western Carolina Univ) for over a decade and I witnessed that if u didn't pull for Carolina u got bad-mouthed and berated simply because your alliance wasn't with Carolina! I simply found it childish and immature that omg, it's like u hafta root for Carolina around here and no one else, almost like an ultimatum by choice! Staying neutral was the best move I ever made! Major percentage of Carolina fans spend so much time undermining other fanbases that they've never taken the time to look in the mirror and realize they act the same way in regards to the other programs they constantly judge and complain about! Hopefully your not part of the majority! If u aren't, I respect you!
