RP-PB043 is still popular. It is listed by Qualcomm as certified QC 3.0 which is what it is optimized for. Up to 24 watts input refill charging when charged with QC wall chargers offering 12V/2A makes it a cut above. Can also refill with USB-CD but the C port is limited to 5V/3A input/output or 15 watts. This bank is ideal for charging Samsung S10 Plus and older models which use AFC/QC 2.0 protocol. Use the original cable plugged in to the green QC 3.0 port not a C to C cable. Charges QC phones at their fastest rate without heating the battery. Galaxy S10 can also use C-PD protocol for convenience using a PD charger or bank's C port but not the best choice, more battery heat and wear. To utilize fast Qualcomm Quick Charge or Samsung AFC a proper cable must be used otherwise chaging defaults to slow 5 volt legacy charging. This bank itself will charge reasonably fast with any standard Galaxy AFC (QC 2.0) 5-9 volt charger and Samsung cable but using a USB QC charger with 12V/2A instead of the more common 12V/1.5A is how the 24 watt input charge is achieved. Ravpower offers a 27 watt QC wall charger with 12V/2A. Motorola Turbo and LG fast charger with 12V/1.5A are faster than the Sansung standard AFC charger. Store at 50% ( 2 lights lit ) when not used and the batteries Li-ion cells will last years.

6:35 Wrong information. Did you look on the back? Fastest refill recharge is not on the C port. It is on on the micro B not the C port. The Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 micro B port accepts up to 24 watts and is the primary reason to buy this RP-PB043. Unless I am mistaken that is what this is. Rated capacity 20100 mAh 72 Whr. To realize this fast 24 watt refill charge rate the QC charger must be labeled "12V/2A" not the more common 12V/1.5A. Buy the 12V/2A 27 watt QC charger from Ravpower for $8 or use the more expensive Samsung EP-TA300. Belkin's new QC4+ wall charger also has 12V/2A. Next best is Motorola Turbo or LG both with 12V/1.5A. More readily available to most will be their Samsung AFC Galaxy phone charger which will charge the bank from empty in 4-5? hours at 15-18 watt rate. C-PD charging on the C port is limited to 5V/3A 15 watt so is the slowest and will wear the battery faster.

QC3 is 5v / 9v / 12v, not only 5v. Type C should be multiple voltages between 5v and 20v.

Type C refers to a physical port style not the charging protocol. You are correct in noting that the C output on this bank is not C-PD and is limited to 5 volts. The best use of this bank is (1) fast QC recharging through the bank's micro B input (2) fast charging QC 2.0 3.0 devices regardless of whether the device has a C port. Galaxy S9 S10 for example charge best from the green QC port using a common Type A to Type C QC cable. This might be counter-intuitive to some who think C to C is always the best choice without considering what charging protocols are enabled between device or charger. C-PD is no faster than QC 3.0 under 18 watts which is the most many phones can handle.

No problem, I'm glad it was helpful! Yes you are right. For use with the Nintendo Switch I was referring to the USB Type C port. This is the second port from the left (the one says Type-C 3 A). That port will have the best charging compatibility with the Switch since the console has a USB Type C input port.

Ravpower has since introduced high wattage USB Type C PD battery banks. I use their PB201 for my laptop instead of my PB043 ( the one reviewed here ). Labtops and tablets using USB Type C-PD make use of multi-voltage output up to 20 volts, typically requiring 30 watts in use or more whereas the PB043 is limited to 15 watts and 5 volts.

I wish I would of researed more because folks on Amazon are saying its crap and the wall plug is cheap such as the two prongs easily fall off stuck in the wall outlet. Also the POS fails after x days weeks or months of use. If this Amazon sold product fails I'm so done with the Amazon flea bag hotel business.

@@dropzonewarzone5251 He didn't supply the part number so you likely looked that the wrong bank. The RP-PB043 does not come with a charger. This is one of the only ones RP warrants forever. It's still the best QC 3.0 charger around in 2020.

Yes it is. It can charge your Nintendo Switch while you continue to play it. I don't have my Switch anymore but I remember it extending the battery life of my Switch roughly by about 6 hours beyond the Switch's own battery life. But for a 20 hour flight you may need something with more than 40,000mAH.

Yes it will, but only as fast as quick charge 2.0. From what I've read the Note 4 supports up to quick charge 2.0. So you can still use the quick charge 3.0 port on this portable charger but it will only charge as fast as your phone is capable of being charged. And in this case the Note 4 is capable of charging up to quick charge 2.0 speeds. But newer phones that support quick charge 3.0 will be able to get the full charging speed out of the quick charge 3.0 charger.

Yes you will be able to charge your 2.0 device using the 3.0 port because the 3.0 technology is backwards compatible with 2.0 and 1.0 devices. However, your phone will be limited to 2.0 charging speed because that is is limitation. But if you plan to get a new phone with quick charge 3.0 anytime soon this charger will future proof you for that.

This is hard to say. It has plenty of mAh but laptops take a lot of power to charge. This power bank's USB type-C output puts out 5V / 3A max. So you would need to check the power required to charge your laptop to see if this provides enough power for it.

Good question. Actually it stands for milliamp hour. Essentially, it is used to measure the energy capacity of a battery. So the higher the mAh the higher the battery capacity there is to charge your devices.

Pass through charging isn't advised with power banks. Use a dual port ac charger instead. Battery banks are not designed as a UPS if that is what you are looking for. People keep asking for this 'feature' so manufacturer's have acquiesced included safeties on certain models to reduce the chance of fire or damage to circuits or battery. Anker has a good post on why pass through should be avoided.

No. The output is not C-PD and is limited to 5 volts. I own several RP banks including this one which I like very much but it is optimized for QC 3.0 2.0 devices up to 15 watts. Laptops require much more power, 30 to 60 watts or more. You may be able to charge a small laptop or Cromebook in sleep mode but it would not be ideal.

Yes. The S9+ employs Samsung AFC protocol which is essentially Qualcomm QC 2 5 to 9 volt 15 watt charging. Use the green QC port with the original phone cable or an aftermarket IF certified one like Anker. I believe it also accepts USB C Power Delivery like the S10 S10+ . You can use this battery's C port but it is only 5 volt not true power delivery multi-volt. The phone has an internal battery temperature sensor which can be easily displayed with a lightweight app . If highest battery temp is the same with both ports one likely true theory is that it won't matter which one is used for least battery wear.

No portable battery has been known to brick Switch. That warning relates to other devices connected to the dock. To charge this #43 bank at the fastest rate you need to use a QC 3.0 charger 30 watts or better connected to the Micro B port with a high amp QC rated cable. It charges slowly through the C port because it isn't C-PD and is limited to 5 volts on that port. The RP-PB201 or another C-PD capable bank would make a better choice for Switch.

Yes it will work with Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The upcoming Note 8 does have a USB Type C port to support USB C charging. However, I am not sure if it will have quick charge 3.0 capability. As for charging over night, it is not recommended to do this over a long period of time because over a long period of time it can be harmful to the battery.

It depends on the device you are charging. For charging my Nintendo Switch the USB Type C port gave a faster charge. I would say if you need an active data connection for data transfer while you are charging I would use the USB C port. But if you are just charging your phone then I would stick with the QC 3.0 as long as the phone is QC 3.0 compatible.

Yes you can but much more slowly than is possible through the micro B port using a QC 3.0 charger 30 watts or better with a high amp QC cable. This is because the bank's C port is not PD and limited to 5 volts. I use my Samsung AFC when a higher wattage QC 3.0 charger is not available and it works well just takes longer.

Correct! The RP PB043 has a C port that is limited to 5 volts only. It does work in Switch portable mode but today there are many C-PD models to choose from. This bank still remains popular owing to its ability to fast recharge through the micro B port and good support for QC 3.0 2.0 devices such as Galaxy phones up to and including the S10 Plus.

@@craigd1708 No. The QC port is backwards compatible to legacy USB. The charge rate will adjust to whatever the device can accept. All but the lowest end phones these days accept a fast charging protocol of one kind or another. Samsung Galaxy up to and including S10 Plus accepts QC 2.0 and AFC making this RP-PB043 ideal. Use the green QC port and a QC enabled cable Type A to Type C for the S9 and S10 instead of making a C to C connection for best results. The S9 and S10 accept QC 2.0, AFC and USB C PD. The C port on this RP is not PD, is limited to 5 volts and is safe to use but it will be slower.

@@ricoviii1 Demonstrated to be untrue because time at elevated battery temperature causes extra battery wear. So charging many hours at legacy 5 volts instead of multi- volt a device is made for can cause the same or more wear. Most important is to insure that the charger protocol matches that of the device. Users can search for video test where an inline USB analyzer tool which reports the protocol in use or invest in the tool which is inexpensive since mfg claims are often unreliable. Craig asked about Qualcomm QC, a type of fast charging. There is no safer charge for QC devices than a QC certified charger such as this RP-PB043. Look for the QC logo. With this RP charger the battery in my S7 edge never gets over 100 F according to the phone's internal sensor. It's more than three years old and still reports good health an Accubattery. Users can and should run an easy to use light weight free phone sensor app to monitor battery temperature when trying any new battery charger regardless of manufacturer claims. All Galaxy S10+ and prior models use Qualcomm QC.

Yes you can use a Type C power delivery charger although it will only charge at 5 volts and recharge will take longer. This particular charger from RP is Qualcomm QC optimized for both input and output. Fastest and most efficient charging will be with an inexpensive 5-9-12 volt QC 3 charger. I use a Motorola Turbo charger and have also used an oem Samsung AFC 5-9 volt phone charger which takes only slightly longer. For longest battery bank life try to end charging at 3 lights if you won't require all the reserve and store between two to three lights. Leaving the cells at full or drained causes deterioration over time. A wall outlet timer is a handy thing to have for all battery charging.

It can charge two devices simultaneously but I don't think it can be charged from two chargers at the same time.

No I have not. But if those phones have a USB Type C input port for charging, then it will be compatible.

You got it right. Using the USB type C to USB type C charging cable will give the Switch a faster charge than USB type c to USB type A.

I just bought one last week and thought it could charge more than one device at a time. It doesn't. I used the ismart port to micro USB to charge my Bluetooth speaker. Iights on and charging. Then I plugged the USB c to usb c to charge my galaxy S8. Wouldn't charge. Unplug the speaker and the phone began to charge. Plug the speaker back in and it wouldn't charge unless I unplug the phone. Did I misread the description on Amazon or do I have a defective battery? Even my much cheaper 10000mah anker battery with usbc can charge 2 devices at once.

Jim Y I have no idea what you are talking about. I have the power bank and I can charge three devices using all ports at the same time. Maybe you have a defective device. As far as charging the bank itself, you can only charge it with either the usb-c or the micro usb, but not both at the same time.

No it does not come with a C to C cable as noted in the video. This will work with Switch portable mode but is limited to 5 volt output on the C so can not provide the fastest charge rate.

It takes around 4 hours to charge from zero to full using a quick charge 3.0 wall charger. Without using a QC 3.0 wall charger it will take longer.

Hmmm, it should fast charge by default. Are you using the charging cables that came with this charger? The only other thing I could think of would be to restart your phone and try again.

You can recharge the charger by either plugging it into a USB charging hub or USB wall charger. A USB quick charge 3.0 wall charger would recharge it faster than a regular wall charger.
