My man you have helped change my mind from a 16 gallon to this guy. Made me realize that portability over large size is a big plus. This kills my existing rigid vacuum specifically due to the cord wrap placement, top handle, wand stowage hole and compact design. My previous profession was plumbing and I was just used to the larger models to suction up water etc., but I now recognize the beauty of the compact designs for auto detailing, especially if the detailer totes his gear in a smaller vehicle and yes will allow for more tools and product. I am a subscriber to the detailer minimalist theory and this fits the bill perfect. Cheers and have a wonderful date!

I had one but the motor burned up on it. It doesn't have a very big canister. You gotta be careful not to get any water in the motor. That's what happened to me. But this thing is a beast no doubt. Install the hepa green filter on it and use a vacuum bag and you got a good little dedicated unit for vacuuming. But wet vacs and small canisters? Maybe I'm missing something. The bigger and/or deeper canisters are perfectly alright because the motor will be further away from any water. Unless you're sucking up gallons and gallons without dumping it out every once in awhile. Don't know if there's a true 50/50 dry/wet that's small? Ya they say but you know don't get water in the motor or dust. I have an idea for these small ones. Haven't tested it out yet. Still looking at the different filters and parts. The Stinger that's at Home Depot, you can install the vf2001 filter over the vf2000 dust filter. But the vf2001 is only a sleeve that won't cover the bottom. It leaves the bottom of the dust filter exposed.

In the past I used a small ShopVac and the motor just burns up from a cheap design (plastic bearings melt) and the ones I had were all POS.. I was looking at the Ridgid 14 Gal with the heavy 10-foot hose and 1-1/4 detailing kit, gives you a good 15 feet of hose to work with and a little more CFM than the compact unit you are promoting. The town where I live has limited options of a Craftsman or ShopVac, seems like they are priced at 80$ and up, I'm not one to throw money away because of crappy equipment. I'm really interested in the RIDGID from HOME DEPOT because it looks decent and affordable; I read the warranty page and its kinda sketchy about the terms of their lifetime warranty (the service center can dishonor the claim for normal wear & tear). BTW: I'm a big fan of the vacuum bags to collect the nasties and not clog up the filter with fine dust and other crap.

Heyyyyyy Mr. Wilson you are soooo right this is an awesome vac bro just brought one today. I was searching for the right vac for my needs and this is the best one I have ever used thrust far. Not saying the other vac was not good but I just keep stepping up to satisfaction. The cordless ones are great for customers that keep their vehicles clean but for those clients that you have to do more work you will definitely run out of juice and you and I know that’s not good service. I have a request. I was in an Auto Zone the other day, and saw a Slime inflator/vacuum that run on a 12 volt cigarette lighter socket. Though I know this is not ideal for detail vacuuming the whole car, I wonder how well this would work on spot clean ups? Think it is powerful enough, or a waste of money for that? Thank you for your feedback.
@wilsonautodetailing6 жыл бұрын
Actually I know of many customers I have who keep this in their car, but it is not something I would ever used. I would say that is much more geared for the car owner who wants to quickly clean up things they may spill for maintenance
@waynepile50846 жыл бұрын
@@wilsonautodetailing I may get one to keep my tires properly inflated, and if I do feel like a spot clean up, that may be perfect for me. However, I'm still going to look for a good vac that doubles as a blower, and going to give Rigid vacs a series look. Thank you.

@wilsonautodetailing6 жыл бұрын
You can buy the small "brush attachment" and that helps me a ton with dashboards... but unfortunately with most higher end dashboards and consoles, the clear coated plastic that is over them, like in mercedes and BMW's, is so easy to scratch that even with a microfiber there is some scratching regardless

Just watched your video and Scott’s from Dallas Paint Correction. He loves Rigid but recommends no wheels so the vac doesn’t roll on hilly driveways or hit a car. I use a Craftsman with 4 caster rollers and it’s a chore to use on my inclined driveway. Great suction and reliable, but risky around cars as it will roll right down to the street if I’m not chocking the wheels. How do you deal with the rolling issue on your Rigid?
@wilsonautodetailing6 жыл бұрын
Thats an issue that is so rare I just do not worry about it, you can simply turn it sideways if that really is an issue, or put a bin behind it.. never been a huge issue for me honestly
@raizt15963 жыл бұрын
You can take the front wheels off. It still kind of drags by the larger back wheels if you need to move it.

I still have a small (4 or 5 gallon), Shop-Vac that I bought on sale for like 20 bucks, years ago... It does what I need, but in being honest, it looks like cheap crap in build quality comparison (especially the hose, tool attachment points and wheels), and I have no doubt it would be ruined very quickly if I were using more than weekly. I won't replace it until it shits the bed, but when it does I'll be buying one of these. Should last me a lifetime, so thanks for the up close review.
