you think the firman tri fuel 9400w is better than the predator 9000w? i am not sure which brand is better but maybe you have a better idea.
@eandm89823 жыл бұрын
I tested a firman vs honda using a skill wormdrive saw. the firman wouldn't start it and the honda did. I suspect the difference in engine displacement (the honda has a significantly larger disp.) was what made the difference in the surge capacity. I know 600+ hours of heavy use is nothing to a honda( personal experience) i' m pretty sure the firman isn't built that tough. Also i know parts and service are available everywhere for the honda, while the firman and preditor i' m not so sure . I do know that a lot of small engine shops won't touch the firman or pred. i know a case can be made for both types of build(quality vs knockoff) but for serious heavy duty usage and reliability the honda will pay off despite the higher initial cost.
@GeneratorReviews3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Honda is a work horse but you are right the displacement of the Honda helps with the startups

I can buy 3 predator's for the price of the honda.. I also hear that honda circuit boards are having problems and some service is taking up to 3 months.. do ya feel lucky? plus, and best of all, you can return the predator for a brand new no questions asked warrantee.. try that with a honda or firman.. Gavin, I'm surprised you don't mention that, your viewers could use that information.

If I were needing heavy duty power, or using a generator every day of the year, I'd choose Honda for longevity. They are the best. For occasional use, I think Firman/Predator/Champion/Wen are better. First, you can buy 2 for less than a Honda. Second, and important to me, gas consumption is a lot less, run time is a lot more. I've been renovating properties without electricity for the past 2 years, relying on a generator to run lights, fans, radio, window a/c, battery charger, and so on. Tools are cordless, so I don't need electric for them. My Honda EU2200 always needed to be refilled during an 8-9 hour day. My Champion 2000, which is similar to the Firman, would never run low on gas unless it was an exceptionally hot day and the 8000 BTU window a/c was running nonstop and drawing a lot of power continuously. I hate stressing about whether a generator will need fuel soon when working. The Honda would go about 7 hours, the Champion goes about 11 hours. The Firman has a smaller fuel tank than the Champion .9 vs 1.2 if I remember right- but I believe it's still rated to run 9 hours on a full tank.
@eandm89822 жыл бұрын
@@mickm5097 a while back i tried some firman 2000s... costco specials . all my generators take a beating only the hondas last and or are repairable(parts and or repair people are readily available). when a firman dies it is junk no one will repair them and good luck finding parts. i guess maybe the two for one price sorta covers that but not really.. though costco did take them back when they failed in a year. i have no experience with champion though i hear good things from the rv sector. there is definitely a role for the firmans of the generator space some ot the newcomers have great feature additions but bottom line reliability and power favor the hondas.

If you sold them since that freeze storm that happened in Texas, that's why you got what you paid. Every person in Texas just about ran out and bought a generator and dramatically drove the price up. Inventory is dramatically impacted nation wide so people buy any generator that can get their hands on and pay top dollar. It sort of like ammo. The last year would be the absolute best time to sell ammo if you had say a caliber you no longer use. You could triple your money.

I want something for emergency outages at home to run my fridge, freezer and Internet and a few lights. Do you think the Honda is worth it? Should I take back the Firman? When anyone tells you the Firman "will last years if properly maintained", that's just theory, an opinion. No one knows for certain, because they haven't been around that long. Have you ever seen a well -used one for sale, maybe with an hour meter on it to indicate longevity? Do rental outfits use the Firman as a rental? I've never seen one. I, like you, was in the market for something for emergency back-up only, so even though I'm a blue-collar guy, I sucked it up, saved, and bought two Hondas, because they have an undisputed reputation for durability and longevity. I also own a small Generac and a Predator, and let me tell you, they do not compare to a Honda. Anybody who says otherwise is coloring their opinion with the disparity in price. With generators, the time-worn adage rings true: you get what you pay for. Good luck with your decision.

Last time when I really needed them the two I had along on my trip would not start at all. I dadgum near ripped my arm off. They will be sold and I will get one of the newer 3500 watt jobs. Have not settled on brand yet. Sure as heck won't be Honda brand. On another video a guy had a Honda and a Predator he had stored for six months. It took him 20 pulls to get the Honda to fire. One pull and the predator started..
@GeneratorReviews3 жыл бұрын
Lol.. that’s so funny my eu2000 does that exact same thing and I drain all the fuel from it to prevent that. The carburetor jets gets gummed up easily. I spray it with carb fogging oil now to prevent that now. Thanks for watching Mr. Gerald
@jmljml50653 жыл бұрын
I just read your comment. I have two EU2200i's which I bought new. They haven't been started since November, so I thought I'd drag one out and experiment. I always drain the carbs, so since they have fuel pumps they're going take more pulls than the models which are gravity-fed. It started on the 4th pull, so there's something wrong with yours. That level of difficulty with regard to starting is not representative of these machines, at least not mine.

I got my Honda EU2000 directly from Honda. They gave me a bottle of fuel stabilizer and I purchased an additional bottle. 3 hurricanes and 2 blizzards later it still runs like a champ. My Chonda generator self destructed in the middle of a hurricane. The Honda never missed a beat. There is something to be said for stabilizing your fuel. The same issue tends to happen with small outboard motors. Here in the mid atlantic all the gas has ethanol in it. I don’t care what lie the gas station says .
