Don’t like this constant push for “layering”. If I buy a perfume I’m expecting a finished product and work of art that I can wear without having to “layer” or add something else to it. If you bought a Picasso would you cover half of it with a da Vinci? Nope, thought not.

I completely agree! I fully expect a finished product and I respect it as such. Do brands think it’s a way to increase sales if they’re the ones pushing it? Or is it mainly consumers looking to be unique and special?

Oh my god finally someone is saying it!! I never understood this "layering" concept- why do people spray a perfume, and then another one (or even two) on top of it?! How is one even supposed to know which perfumes go well together?? And what is the point? Isn't each perfume already a "finished" product?? I can relate to layers of clothing, layers of makeup, layers of jewelry etc..but a perfume??

@@sandyp939 its ridiculous. A single fragrance can often contain many notes and take you on a complete journey from the start to end wear time. As soon as you start throwing other fragrances over it, it becomes jarring and obnoxious. It’s like playing two songs at full volume at the same time, you just wouldn’t. Imagine being dressed to impress wearing Portrait of a Lady and then spritzing a random Kayali on top of it. It’s just a no. Total marketing ploy. I don’t blame Monika though, her channel is a good reference point for fragrances and she has a talent for editing and presenting content at a high level. It’s clear which brands are pushing the “you need to layer” agenda and I see it as nothing more than a cash grab.

@@sashablack6963 EDT is more daytime & EDP slightly more evening. I have & ADORE both. They’re both a green vanilla with hint of spices. Just such an easy wear. Maybe grab the one you can get the best price. Careful of knockoffs though sadly you really have to know your stuff as they’re remarkably good at faking them😫

@@sashablack6963 I absolutely love the EDT but I haven't tried the EDP. The EDT is to me primarily vanilla and juniper. It is so comforting. Feels like you are out in nature. It can also be worn year round. I overspray and I do get compliments. Hope this helps.

Thank you for often including Serge Lutens, as it's not a house that gets a lot of mentions on these platforms. So much depth and uniqueness in any of their scents I've tried. As for seasons, I spent my entire 20s wearing a vanilla perfume oil that I'm sure doesn't exist anymore. (I'm nearly 60 now.) All day, all night, all year, whenever I felt like it. The same company made other oils I also wore, like "Rain," etc., so it's funny for me to see so many current houses creating similar scents, especially vanillas.

I love SL’s Un Bois Vanille and don’t hear it spoken of much! I am not much of a gourmand person, but this scent is captivating. I actually don’t feel like it is overly sweet, perhaps because of the green and licorice notes. ✨

Some great ones to try! I'd love a vanilla that's the same sweet vanilla as used in Blossom Love's drydown- it's gorgeous and perfect for Spring /Summer and warmer fall, as is Vanille de Tahite. Aut/Winter 'vanillas' where it's a prominent note are VaneXtasy, El Born, Rouge Saray, Bianco Latter, Bouquet Ideal, Accident a Vanille- Madeleine de Proust, Vanille Extreme (go-to for layering) Divine Vanille, Shunkoin, any vanillas from Maison Tahite are yummy, as are Comptoire's. Several of my faves have Peru Balsam, which I adore- could you do a video on that note? xx

I really enjoy listening to Monika detail each fragrance. I have bought samples from scent split because it is not in my budget to buy all the fragrances that I would probably love. My goal each season is to buy one fragrance that I think I would enjoy for the weather. My budget doesn’t include Cartier watches or designer purses ( and I am about to turn 60!) I just received my samples today and am excited to try them all!

Thank you for this Vanilla showcase, only have the Flower bomb. I have the classic chemically made perfumes and have a healthy collection too. Have you tried: Lavanilla pure vanilla the healthy fragrance or Henry Rose Dark As Night, Torn, Queens & Monsters? They are the healthy vanillas also Pacifica has the Island vanilla. Oh and Skylar Vanilla Sky. I think they are all good in a different way.
