Its very good idea. At this moment i try to make VR environment to test driving on speedtrack. Main problem - provide good enough(fast and precise) car tracking to avoid desync with VR environment and Real environement. It was very close to get precise GPS, but at this moment war disable precise GPS navigation so this project delayed.

They're all gimmicks to emulate something that the mind can emulate better.

Uh... No your not. Not in every game/experience anyway. There are LOTS of them that use Room Scale settings so that you can walk around. That's why you have to mark out the virtual play space before starting. It's your fault if you don't set that up properly and walk into a wall because of it.

I showed my wife my Quest 2 with a stint on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Her response was “Ooh, this is freaky” as she looked around the cockpit while the DA-62 cruised on autopilot. Then I was telling her how to use the controls and she grabbed the stick and shoved it the left. The airplane rolled over and dived for the Earth. She screamed and yanked the headset off. That was enough VR for her.

Once, my headset flew off because I was confident that I won't make any sudden movement since I'm so good at VR. I didn't tighten up my strap enough. Other than that, I have never even felt like moving in real life. This actually showcases how realistic it feels. This is better marketing for VR. I think people still don't understand how immersive it is.
