I'd like to say I agree with everything you are saying. I would like to add to the durability of the radios. I have had them in -30F and had no issues and a heavier battery draw was not noticeable to me. I also have seen them last longer then 3 days. It will of course depend on how much you use them. Like you mentioned, the range will....range. Lol. I have had them in the Mountains on open glaciers without trees and the range is much higher then you will experience in the woods. I have had successful communication with base camp from over 4,000 ft of elevation over several miles with several weather systems in between us and camp. These radios have worked in areas where other radios have failed. I absolutely agree with you that safety needs to be more important. Communication is a necessity. Thanks for the great review!

I have fairly unique needs for a walkie. I need good clarity (most important) and silent use. Range and weather-resistance are not important but are nice. I'll be using them to communicate (with whispers) during classical music performances. Any recommendations of what to get? I don't mind spending up to $1000 for a set of 3.

Well this radio can talk and transmit at a very low level. However if you need to be able to use an ear piece, a Motorola radio may be better

Radio Rocky Talkie is the trade name of Zastone mini 9 radio. Rocky Talkie is a brand for US users. The radio has a Kenwood earphone microphone plug. You can use a headset with a Kenwood plug for this radio. Good little radio for US tourism.

No it is a re-programmed Retevis RB38V MURS radio. And the Zastone and Retevis share the same address

As for getting yourself found during a rescue situation, there is a beacon you can buy just for that putpose. I think it transmitts to the satellite. Another good consideration would be a scanner so that you can find other users easier.

Great video, felt like such an honest review. I’m such a novice and I know you talked about it but when it comes to the range and similar size, is there no other walkie talkie you found to work better? To me 1-2 miles doesn’t seem far, idk

Well if you get a hand held ham radio you are able to get much more distance. However you need a license to use one of those. As for normal hand helps like this, 1-2 miles is about all you will get in real world situations. Lots of the radios will talk about having a 20 or more mile talk range, but that would have to be in an area with no trees or hills. So for most situations not a real distance estimation.

You can charge off of both. I use a goal zero solar panel and a Mophi pack.

You can radio other people within range for help, but it does not have satellite/cell reception.

on less the rocky talkie has G M R S all you have is a 1/2 watt radio to keek tabs on your child at one mile that is as far as his leach will go.
