Thank you thank you thank you BBC for posting more of these vintage treasures!

That final watch was quite the shocking price. Few items were worth over 50,000 pounds 30 years ago. These days, many watches can be worth that or more, it seems.

I wish BBC road show would release old full episodes on YT like the US road show channel does.

and in 50 years time, I can just hear the appraiser "It's the finest quality, circa 2010 or 2020, definitely a German maker, either Lidl or Aldi, quite probably from their FINEST range" 😁

It's made of plastic, which was quite the rage back then when we still had oil to make it.

A gold version of the 1st watch, which is actually Neptune and not Poseidon, sold in 2017 for c. $300k US

I was curious

@@aaronbaltin7966 That was in 2017... the watch market has gone wild since then... I'd guess it would at least 2.5x that 2017 price.

As many things have gone down in value since this was filmed, watches have gone ballistic… up in price!

This would be a really neat segment to do a "current price"-version of, considering that this was 30 years ago and how the watch-market has exploded.
@Dzokhar Жыл бұрын
Most of these values could generously be 5x that today, some even 10x.

The first watch, a Rolex, would easily be 30x their estimate, certainly if it's 1 of 2.

That Poseidon is worth over HALF -A-MILLION today !

I recall, and wonder if anyone else does, an elderly, seemingly frail gentleman, brought in a mantle clock, early on in the British series of ARS. He was obviously struggling financially and was gobsmacked and stunned when informed it was worth perhaps £5-6K. Any financial woes he may have had evaporated on the spot. Would love to see that again.

the last timepiece is made by Audemars Piguet for Gübelin. £15.000 is way on the lower side. Watches like that would go for around £25-30.000

Good to know (since the appraiser quoted _£50.000_ and not £15.000).

Unfortunately, the British version of the show doesn't seem to do that.
