You’re still here! You stopped showing up on my home page, I thought you stopped making videos. Anyway, YES! Thank you for the basil flower info. I’ve been cutting them off and leaving them to feed the dirt. Really good to see you again, I’ll search if you don’t show up again. Your channel is good stuff.

Have you done a video on Perilla leaves/ Shiso leaves yet? They are extremely nutrient dense and easier to grow than basil and have large purple leaves that taste mildly minty and they are invasive like mint.To me they are a more healthful lettuce alternative and can be marinated and used to roll around food like Grape Leaves or eaten fresh. Asians use them in a variety of dishes.

I just happened to have some Thai basil and watermelon in the garden and followed right along. Great taste and very refreshing. The watermelon masked the black licorice flavor of the basil, which I don't really care for. Thanks, man!

I've always found dried basil flowers hold their smell and flavor much longer than the leaves. I usually dry both.

I dehydrate all my basils for cooking with later. I understand why spices can be pricey. A lot of fresh leaves can dehydrate into very little dried spices. But at least they don't get wasted.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'm new to in home urban gardening. I bought a purple basil plant yesterday and it has flowers. I wasn't sure if these were leaves about to bloom or a sign of something else. Now I understand the flowers may halt additional leaf growth. The various comments on what people are doing with the flowers is greatly appreciated. ❤

So it's a bit off topic here but how can I save my mulberry tree?. Someone cut it down it was young and 3-4ft tall.
@sgibau3 жыл бұрын
Is the stump still in the ground and sticking up above the soil line? If so, it will "probably" come back. Seal the cut end (with either wax or IV Organic Plant Guard) to prevent the stump from drying out and insect damage. Root the rest of the tree that was cut off. I've had cuttings (thick & thin) root in water and dirt with zero problems either way. Mulberry is a very hardy tree.

He is on a blender vacuum kick the last couple of years.. sold tons of blenders without such a feature before - but now - he believes the oxidation during juicing is not good and the juice you get under vacuum is "better".
