Need to extend your wifi to the pool, backyard, barn, garage or even another house? I completely switched out my wifi and now have amazing wifi coverage over 4 buildings and several acres of yard. I had an Asus AiMesh setup with 6 routers/nodes and two pairs of point to point wifi bridges and now I swapped that out for a TP-Link Omada small business level system. Lets go through how it performs and my thoughts so far. I also have mutli-WAN router with load balancing and failover currently on 3 ISP's. This is not sponsored.
TP-link and Mokerlink products I used:
Indoor AP EAP670: amzn.to/48IsKVy
Alternative smaller indoor AP: amzn.to/3ZMsNM3
Outdoor AP EAP650-Outdoor: amzn.to/3LQPGZ8
Mutli-WAN router ER707-M2: amzn.to/3tsI1tk
Omada hardware contoller OC300: amzn.to/3F7CATi
8-port 2.5G POE switch: amzn.to/46kpFJO
5-port 2.5G POE switch: amzn.to/48KKP5u
2-port POE splitter: amzn.to/46iXeMp

I've been using omada for about 2 years now. Its not perfect but it's a great set up especially for the price point ! Router, managed switch and POE APs all configured and managed with the OC200 controller. Great video.

Thanks for the video. I love TP-Link and have it all over our farm with the exception of a UniFi Gigabeam bridge which is great. Dropped Starlink after getting Verizon 5G Home and hoping one of the others is available soon to combine them. Been very happy with our Deco devices.

I used their earlier system for my son's smaller 'family compound'. He was on T-Mo LTE, it was fast enough. He now has gig fiber, so I was researching the next gen of Omada. Guess who came up - the Nater. The only thing we did differently was to use SM fiber and 1G SFPs in Jetstream switches to his three outbuildings. went with the smaller AX3000 APs in the outbuildings since he didn't have anything capable beyond WiFi 6. AX5400 in his office/shop. These are real chonkers at their size. PCs are all wired, full gig. iPhone 15s get at least 800. Seperate VLAN for their cameras and environmental. I was hoping you'd do a walk thru of the Omada setup. The SPX guy has pretty good info on Omada. I have an older Meraki system at a public site that is getting too spendy for what it does. Waiting on the OC-400 controller to be available.

So my heads spinning trying to figure out whats best for my situation. I have been out of the tec and networking relm for a long time so im definitely relearning alot. Bottom line up front, i have t mobile 5 g home internet. I have a shop 100 yards from the house that when i close the doors i dont pick up wifi or phone signal. My speed requirements need to allow me to stream youtube for tec info while working on stuff, and have my phone connected fir communications. The only thing i can see adding down the line would be security cameras. What is a good bang for the buck and a simple setup?

A little off topic, but which gateway would you choose from t-mobile? The Nokia or the SageMcom? I have the Nokia gateway now but it drops connectivity once or twice a week. I am using it as a gateway only with a dynalink ax router. Thanks in advance.

If i had an open choice I'd pick the G4AR for the easy external antenna ports. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn7aXpZpfKZlqqc ultimate though a 3rd party gateway is the best kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnXLqZiLoph4p6s

excellent video just what I'm after. After a few month of research and watch you previous videos as well I'm also thinking to go with similar setup as yours as my property also is quite similar to yours. I just wish you have a video on how to wire the hole system and a bit explain more about how to set it up exactly. Maybe a future video idea ? BTW how is the system going? are you happy with it since you have install it ? Cheers

The system is working great and meeting my expectations. Much better than my previous Asus setup. I didnt have to run any more wires as I had already ran ethernet for the Asus (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5e1nH2YlMqdjrs). What exactly were you looking to see in a video?
@pfzpayam

@@NaterTater thanks for your reply. I just want to know where the hardware control is used and how it's wired as well as the router. Also, if you can explain why you need to replace your router with this new one? Was it because you are using 3 ISP? Also after all the hardware is installed, it would be great to see how to set in the management interface and add and introduce the new hardware to the network. I hope my questions are clear.

Great video - super useful. Did you look at Ubiquiti and rule them out? If so, why? I've seen a lot of talk about the Omada being the Ubiquiti killer but also a lot of talk about Omada not being fully mature yet as a platform. I recently used a Unifi Dream router, a Unifi Enterprise 8 port POE switch, and 6 Access points to provide internet to 50+ people for a few months off of a Starlink and it went very smoothly, even through a hurricane in CA and some 115 degree temps. I'm going to sell all the Ubiquiti gear now that the event was over (except the UDR) but the gear worked well. Thanks for the content, beautiful property!

I did look at the Unifi line up and opted for the Omada system for a few reasons. The tp-link better matched my needs for specific AP's, cost was lower and I've good experiences with tp-link in the past.

There aren't many settings to improve wifi coverage in the Cheetah (or most wifi routers for that matter). You might want to look at a wifi extender or mesh system kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHakZ2SFgJubo8U

Great video! Do you use multiple SSID's on different VLAN's? If so, do the Moker switches pass the VLAN ID to the AP's?
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 10 ай бұрын
Interesting question. Right now its only one LAN but I do plan to split out some VLAN's in the future. I wasn't expecting a problem doing that with the mokerlink switches in the loop but now I'll keep a closer eye!

I’m about to invest in the TP-Link Omda system. Just to confirm I can power one outdoor mesh ap through POE from the switch and then just power another outdoor mesh ap at my gate without Ethernet and I should get signal out there?
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 7 ай бұрын
Correct. The units come with a POE injector so you would need 110v plug at your gate for the POE injector and then an ethernet cable from the injector to the outdoor unit. Or have a power supply/battery setup for the outdoor unit.
@brandonseery2926
@brandonseery2926 7 ай бұрын
Sorry. Not sure that I understood. I’ll have an access point on the side of my house that is powered by POE through the switch. At my gate approximately 300 feet away I have 110 power but unfortunately did not run Ethernet. Will the one at the gate with only 110 power work without the Ethernet cable since the other will be on the house with Ethernet?
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 7 ай бұрын
@brandonseery2926 it will work without ethernet from the house. The ethernet is the power cable so you will need an ethernet cable still but it will likely be just a few feet long from the POE injector to the outdoor unit.

There are lots of options and you have to weigh the pros and cons of each for you. I'm looking at the documentation for the EAP650-Outdoor access points and the use cases all have an ethernet data connection. It sounds like you have these in the pond house and building 3 operating as wireless repeaters. Do you require any additional hardware in these locations, or do you configure them and then they run with just power from the POE adapter?
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 9 ай бұрын
I just power them with the PoE adapters and then they "know" to wirelessly mesh back to the house for data.

@NaterTater how would the EAP650 go as a P2P bridge? I have a similar layout to your block but want to have a NAS etc in one location with the router (separate office) and have the 650s as a bridge to the house
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 9 ай бұрын
The 650's will just automatically mesh with a house AP. Assuming it has signal.
@RonMDavis
@RonMDavis 4 ай бұрын
So along the same lines is this question? We have a shed that is like a Faraday cage .. wifi and cell lost upon entry. Even though your buildings no longer needed the indoor router. This Omada device would still support that correct bringing in the signal from the house over the AP and then down thru ethernet to a router for ether or wifi access inside the building via that cable?
@NaterTater
@NaterTater 4 ай бұрын
Yes, they include a PoE injector so it has a LAN data port that would be inside your shed and allow you to hook up another AP or switch/router.
