One piece of advice: those side enemies at Mephisto (Council, unique Ghoul Lords) have a pretty good chance to drop loot too. I got my Shako off a Council member, so its good to clear out the room of the larger mobs after you kill Meph and grab the chest.

Yep; the bosses have highest chance for a single mob, but in the end, the more you kill, the higher your chances are, since there's pretty few items that are restricted to drop from bosses only. I've actually landed more uniques from random mobs, and minibosses, than I have from act-end bosses.

I spend about 20-30mins in a game farming all kinds of places. Honestly I've enjoyed that more than just doing meph only for 4hours. Sometimes I'll farm meph only 30mins or so but I love to enjoy different areas and mobs. Sometimes I'll just to catacombs to get tons of full rejuv pots.

Sometimes I run flayer jungle just because of the monster density although the area level is kinda low at 80. The Devs should make more lvl 85 areas tbh, or make some dungeons last longer by a bit, I rather not have infinite ones. Ancient tunnels/Pit having 2-3 extra levels would help a lot even with server issues, having a Pindle like boss at the end as well.

Biggest problem I have with Memphisto runs is those darn dolls that kill you in an instant if you for some reason stop during the teleporting. :( - Even on nightmare they are a nightmare...

The problem with getting more FCR is that when you're poor, you can't easily hit 105 fcr, stack much mf, keep decent resists, etc. Im.thinking of switching to Andariel also. Dang blood dolls. :)

Follow the rules for C2->C3 (go character right) and teleport there only takes a few seconds. C3->C4 is pretty fast as well if you just pick a wall and follow it. You can very easily do Andy in 2-3 minutes consistently, so it comes down to personal preference.

One thing to note, do it on P3 or P5 settings (type /players X). From P3 to P1 is essentially a 20% boost in item find (it modifies the no-drop rate, not the actual unique chance) and gives you a much better chance of act bosses dropping 6 items. 1000 MF on P1 is close to 350 MF on P3. The time already spent teleporting well eclipses the insignificant extra time taking to kill the boss (basically P3 to P1 is a doubling of HP); i.e. since you spent so much time finding the level 3 stairs, you might as well save yourself the headache of the boss dropping only 2-3 yellow items and a potion..

Don't use pregenerated games. Always make your own custom game for farming with a password and gn you remember. That way when the game crashes you just log back in and go back to pick up your item. It's a good failsafe

Nice video covering MF effect on different item rarity and the « brain map hack ». I prefer running Andy despite the 2 levels, catacomb 3 is always to the right, and the levels are way smaller, I can run Andy faster than Mef. Plus, if you accidentally teleport in a group of mob, you don’t die as easily because act 1 mob are weaker. If you run Mef, always open the super chest for runes, takes 3 seconds.

Shako was actually my first good drop when I started Mephisto hell kills on my sorc! I'd say about 50 kills in. Shortly after I got an oculus. Havent had much luck since then, but I did find a Windforce last night from Pindle!

I really like this build, but I would suggest dropping to ~250 MF (shako, travs, alibaba, gheeds) and picking up the 105% FCR breakpoint for teleporting in DH2/Cat2+3. I run Trang's gloves (+20) Vmagi (+30) spirit shield (+35) and with 2 +10 FCR rings to hit the 105%. If you roll a nice crafted caster ammy and belt (or MF an arachnid mesh) you can use that for FCR and and ditch the rings (or make up for a poor rolled spirit monarch). Also if you can find an Occy (30FCR 20 all rez) you can drop the Trangs and pick the Chance guards back up along with 1 of your rings. The benefit to the above is you can get some decent +10FCR +rez rings and have ~70 all rez stacked up with a couple charms. The best part is you can do it all on mega budget: you can craft the 2 above with cheap runes, 10FCR rings are super common, and Stealth has +25 fcr so you really are just waiting on a Magefist/Trangs, alibaba and a monarch to drop; but you can just sub Spirit and Rhyme early on. you can dump 3 topaz in a mask and it has the same MF as Shako. You can shop 20+ MF boots but aldurs are pretty cheap and have good rez and life until you land your Travs. IMO its the best way to start a ladder.

I've found the Catacomb stairs to lvl 3 are almost always bottom right and lvl 4 is almost always top left or right. Makes teleporting to Andy super easy!

What I do is fill up on mana pots and some health ones too. Mostly mana tho. I mean my entire inventory is mana pots. And just teleport nonstop until I find Durance 3.

Andariel is considerably faster if teleporting. Since we already know that the first level (level 2 to 3) is a right from the WP tile, so you can go strait to it. You're only really looking around 1 level and it's also much smaller and easier to get through. Meph is only faster if you can't teleport.

I found my shako from a fetish at Baal(First wave he throws at you). That was in nightmare mode, only 173%mf. My mf was only pushed up that far because earlier I found the Skulder's Ire in those icy caves, I think it was glacial. So act 5 nightmare was actually a good run through, finally made it to Hell now, with a shako and Skulder's so hopefully I start dropping some good drops soon.

Your exit tile will always be rotated 90° to the right of the orientation of the WP tile. Use that information to figure out which end of the map the exit tile will likely be on and follow the wall in that direction til you find the exit.

if by duo, you mean there are two people in your game, your getting no increased drops but still getting increased enemy health, which is slowing your runs. Drops increase at player #3/5/7.

Just a comment on the use of insight, sometimes the merc just sucks and dies on you anyway. To circumvent this an option is to wear you own insight (can be made in a 4os staff base) and use it on your off-hand and swapping back to main weapons for damage after tele-spam.

actually andariel bug quest give you more chance for it tbh and bugging her is quite easy, you just need to kill her first time on your char then use town portal spawned after her death and talk to Warriv right away to move to II act, job done, you got her bugged, now she'll drop quest rewards only. you can make sure it works if she won't ever drop bolt/arrow items, mine andy drops only blue, yellow and unique, so i bugged her successfully

Finding Andy is in NO WAY quicker or easier then Meph. It is a lot slower, catacombs 4 spawn is random unlike durance 3 which you can predict. You can also use the "moat trick" to avoid Meph's attack.

Mephisto is also fast. The moat trick helps a lot at lower lvls, and before improving the gear. Right now, and don’t do it anymore. I just get next to him, and he goes away quickly as well.

Blizzard is good to use on Mephisto/Cows. Might wanna try Fire Wall as well. With only 1 point in Fire Mastery and Warmth, FW easily does 4-5k per second and can easily do over 20k depending on gear/skills. I use Frozen Orb as my other main skill to deal with mobs and I have little trouble killing anything in the game. FW absolutely melts Andariel due to her weakness to fire. Fire wall works on cows as well. Just switch Frozen Orb to Glacial Spike (only 1 pt) as your left click skill to freeze the cows in place and roast them with Fire Wall.

I absolutely love your guide videos! and i have a few questions beside the meph run: -how do you bind your keys away from die "Fs" -how do you potion up your merc without dragging it per mouse over pic - how do you socket the shako? (SoJ recipe?) -how can i trade effectively? only use open games in lobby? it seems uneffective for me. Is there a way to modify the lobby games overwiev? I would apprechiate you to eventually answer some of my questions. I think there are a bunch of people not knowing some of these things. Have a nice weekend Snob :)

1. options menu has a keybind section, like any other game 2. Shift+(1-4) it'll send potion in that slot to your merc 3. Socket Shako can be done at Larzuk after the act 5 quest, or cube recipe 4. Not a clue, I play solo. I assume D2 has a forum or discord dedicated to it but if so I don't know it.

Just a note on killing Andy vs Mephisto: last night I was in Act 3 on Nightmare. Went into Durance of Hate and the second level was enormous. I am not a huge D2 player, but I believe it is the first time in years that I got such a bad layout. Exit was few steps from entrance, almost D1 style where you could have both entrance and exit next to each other, but WP was half way across the map with various walls thrown in for good measure. I actually fully cleared the map just to find WP. Catacombs on the other hand in my experience are always much smaller, so if you are playing SP, chances are it will be faster to go for Andy and not Mephisto, as you will be able to get to her without much hassle. Of course you can reset the map to get a better layout, but Andy takes just a few hits to kill compared to Mephisto, so your mileage may vary.

If you play super safe like me in hardcore, just grind out the first three areas in act one. I’ve found three Shako, a couple pieces of the tal set, and other nice pieces on my Assassin with only about 122% MF.

Have to go 2 levels for Andy and only 1 level for meph. Durance level 2 is the size of NY. Catacombs are the size of my back yard... I'll stick to Andy can usually get to her in less than 20 seconds.

Got my Shako from a normal Zombie drop in A1 Hell a couple of days ago when I was Andy farming. Funny thing is Andy dropped sweet FA! :D Love this grind game and it's RNG! EDIT: The zombie was in the same room as Andy too. Maybe he stole it because it smelt of brain...

I was farming NM Baal, H Andy, a couple of super unique on H A5 with my 300+ mf bonespear necro for a long time... no Shako. Lots of other good things, but I saw one white shako dropped. Then I decided to level a bit my FuryBarb to be able to wear my Metalgrid. In Hell ACT2 a trash mob dropped THE Shako in the Claw viper temple with 9 MF. The same barb found Guillaume's Face in H ACT1 from a elite pack. One of my best days ever... F***k Mf :D !

Keep doing hell runs is the best way to get any item in general. Pits, Andy, LK chest, Travs, Meph, clear chaos, hell Baal. There are more good areas too but these are the most obvious places to MF.. It's been so long since I played this game.

Been farming Mephisto and ancient tunnels for weeks tryna find one. Last night I randomly get the urge to farm Andariel for a change. The FIRST RUN I get a Shako from a champion pack in her throne room 😵‍💫. My first one ever !!!

There is no rule. I droped shaco 1st time from Andy and 2nd time from regular champion mob. Chance to drop it from a specific monster is too small to grind It over and over...at least in my opinion.

My endgame is literally the Tal Rasha set lol. Been on my mind since seeing it glow in game 20 damn years ago I can see myself farming for couple more weeks, finally getting Tals Armor + Ammy to drop, have the final "great, now I can actually play the game" moment, play for 2 more hours and never touch d2 again haha. I've already squeezed out just about as much nostalgia as I can from the tens of hours I've put in D2R

Found my first Shako ever (d2 lod) from hell meth today. In about 300 runs, 150 MF, found oculus, draculs and (eth) aracnids for my sorc too

it took me about 2 weeks to get my first shako due to work schedule then after the next game i made a occy dropped and after that a bul ring dropped and it made my day for all those 2 long dry weeks of farming.
