I recently started to get into collecting some vinyl. After acquiring my first vinyl I had to then figure out what gear I would need to get to play it.
So this video is to show what purchasing choices I made after doing some research, comparisons of my two potential setups, and which one I’ll be sticking with!
Hopefully, this will be helpful to someone!
Thanks for watching!

Actually I bought the same edition of the Victrola that you have, just that mine doesn't have CD player and Casette but all other things are the same, that sounds really good, it has such a loud sound to completely full a room or a house also, to be able to hear ur favorite music wherever you are at home, also, don't expect to be able to hear the sub bass frequencies, because the built-in speakers kind of just reproduce frequences like over 200 hz until probably 18.000 hz which is actually really good and enough to enjoy ur vinyl records and also start into the vinyl world, thanks for your review ⚡

I grew up with the vinyl in the 1980s when I was young, I bought a record player in early 2023, I play my old vinyl collection.

that Victrola IMHO is just gorgous, saw one today at Barnes and Noble and fell in love with it. You did a nice job capturing the audio, much better than most reviewers out there. I thought Victrola sounded wonderful on it's own and with the speakers, quite similiar. Didn't surprise me the blue tooth audio was less. Blue tooth auido is compressed and it loses data. really good quality blue tooth is paramount. Again wonderful job capturing the audio demos, I'd be curious to see what you ended up with now after 2 years.

Thanks for watching! My parents never use theirs so that's all I'm using for now. One day I'll do a big upgrade, it's just not a priority right now. I've gotten some good advice in the comments here though so I'm sure I'll end up with somehting totally different eventually!

Great video...I have two all in one players similar to your Victrola player and find that connecting to my edifier speakers does not really improve the sound dramatically...the cartridges these units use are ceramic cart..with either a diamond tipped stylus or ruby or sapphire stylus...my opinion.the diamond tip sounds best and also their are configurations in the cartridge as to whether the cantilever arm is plastic or metal..which I think effects sound quality...I also have a music public Kingdom suitcase player which has a moving magnetic cartridge. This kind of cartridge is made by audio technica and gives far greater much improved sound quality from the players own speakers and also sounds even better hooked up to the edifier speakers I have ..mine are the non blue tooth ones....I think definitely a ruby or sapphire stylus in these red ceramic cartridges used in these all in one players like Victrola..can definitely be improved by changing to a diamond tipped stylus...anyhow .I thought the Victrola definitely sounded better..probably to my ears just through its own speakers...I am just listening on a mobile phone speaker...

Would definitely recommend the music public Kingdom suitcase player with moving magnetic cartridge...or something like an audio technica LP 60 X...or LP 3 turntable...both great players..the lp3 being fully automatic...and both not over the top in price..the suitcase player from music public Kingdom is about one hundred pounds...I am in UK...and has Bluetooth too...ok..that's my two messages worth lol

just saw this video pretty good and well thought out ,to me the victrola sounded better but some music of todays artists are heavy in bass I know for a fact niether of these record players have adjustments for bass and treble so when you play other albums it will not sound great but flat the blue tooth speakers gave some bass but sounded muddy like someone putting hands over the mouth and the record player in those units are not that great you pay a lot of money for a plastic record playewr costing 10.00 dollars to make ,out all of them the victrols looks better made the style is nice looking but the record player makes it look cheap but as you keep playing records you will learn more as you go ,I believe you are on the right track I think half the enjoyment of this hobby is learning what otherb type of record players can do ,I grew up with records and grew up with similar type of record players that had the ceramic cartridge but in those days they matched the impediance so that it would noit sound so flat and they all had treble and bass adjustments ,but hopfully you will enjoy this journey you are on and have a great time with it JRo

Thanks for watching and for the comment! I'm definitely not super picky with audio as long as it's not too bassy and has good clarity. I had no idea there was so much nuance to record players and how expensive they can get! But like you said, I'm just trying to have fun right now and I'm sure I'll learn more as I go 😊

You really need to consider a proper turntable. Even the entry level audio technica lp60 is a very good sounding capable automatic turntable and will sound amazing with your edifier speakers. Conversely the markets starting to see more reasonably priced turntables with moving magnet cartridges as a good starting point. The mechanism on those cheap all in ones doesn’t do your records any good. Note I call them records not vinyls! Vinyl is what their made of but they are called records! The cheap ceramic cartridge on these all in ones track very heavily, sometimes over 6 grams and have no antiskate. As another commenter said fit a decent diamond stylus on to what you have and they last longer. Don’t believe the horror stories that these all in ones destroy your records though because as they do really increase the wear and tear on the records grooves their fine for the odd spin! Most importantly continue enjoying your music! Best of luck in your musical journey!

Wow🌷《☆》Nice comparison👍✔🛎The Vic sounded better to me. Lynyrd Skynyrd 2nd helping is a great album btw. Sounds like you aren't keeping the Victrola. I'm thinking about getting one. Let me know how your choice works out. Big Like & Sub🖖🤓🏈

Thanks for watching and for the sub! Yea I didn't keep the Victrola...the aesthetic wasn't what I was going for and too big for me. For now I just use the one I had with my sound system I have in my living room!

@@cortneygale🌷 《☆》I had a turntable in the 70s that would hold 3 or more records & load automatically. I guess I'll just keep looking & not be in any hurry. I have everything on CDs anyway. Thanks for Your reply🖖🤓🏈
