Hi, Great video and helpful information. I just wanted to ask for some more advice. I have an interview for an NHS AP post in a hospital specialising in Mental Health, Learning Disability and Substance misuse. The post is an assistant position to a clinical Psychologist. Is there any specific questions regarding SPSS or research statistics I should prepare for? I have previous research experience although it was purely qualitative methods. Also, do you have any good sources for what psychological assessments/tools the NHS use for learning disabilities and mental health? Thanks for your help!

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to write, and congrats on your interview ! I never got a question specific to statistics, but when they asked me how my skills or IT skills were, I made a point of boasting about my SPSS abilities, going into a little details about what I loved doing and what I was proficient in. On the other hand, I actually never spoke about my qualitative research skills, and they also never asked. So if I were you, I would bring up my strengths when it seems relevant! But I doubt they will ask any ultra-specific stats questions, unless that is 100% of the job description. As for your second question, I would look into the NICE guidelines the NHS has to follow for treatment plans. For instance, for Social Anxiety, there is a whole section describing the procedures GPs must follow, from A to Z, which includes which psychometric tests can be used and what medication can be given. You could look into some specific learning disabilities and mental health issues and see what NICE says about it, and take note! Again, could be very impressive if you casually brought it up in some replies. Good luck on your inteview!!

@@VeePsych That's great! The NICE guidelines were exactly what I was looking for regarding psychometric assessments and treatments. 6 days to go now! Thanks for the advice.

Hi Vani, Thank you very much for this useful video. You mentioned about a documents where they highlight the works to use during an interview such as care and compassion. I can't find it. Do you mind to send it to me, please?

I've had quite a few AP interviews that's in forensic settings. However, every time I've had an interview, I'm told that I don't have enough experience even though I've generally have had good feedback. But I can't get that experience unless I work there... Any suggestions on how I can address this but not make it seem like a 'weakness' when I'm up against other applicants?

That's a frustrating thing to hear. It's good you get to interview stage, though, that means you're completely able to secure a job, just that for that particular one, the people against you had more exp. If you want to/are able to, some volunteer experience is easier to get than paid work, and you could try to work with populations likely to be seen by forensic psychologists. Hope this helps, and good luck!
