Best way to test for fake Round Brilliant Cut Moissanite, when cz is sold as Moissanite.

Super helpful. Thank you. I bought a pair of moissanite earrings off Amazon, but they came with a fake GRA certificate (lots of errors all over), but there are people who bought the same product saying they passed a diamond tester. So, I wanted to learn other ways to tell fake vs real. I also came across info about coating that can be used to fool cheap diamond testers since they just measure conductivity. We need more videos like this to protect people from being scammed.

Have you found any other way? I'm afraid the method in this video only might not work if the stone is already set.

@@marisolmtzm Usually when somebody is selling cz jewllery as moissanite they put moissanite, or diamond in the title of the listing and then in the description, they will say somewhere that it's cz and if the customer realizes then they accept the return to minimize getting done for it, so that is the first place to look in the description. The price of moissanite has come down a lot so it is less of a target for scammers now. The more expensive diamond testers can test for it, so if you took it to a jeweller who had a proper diamond tester they would be able to tell you for a small price. That's the only way I know to test it when it's set.

Also if you have one of the cheap diamond testers and you have some cz's then you can compare the signal to the cz's, the moissanite will be a lot higher if it is moissanite and if the diamond tester is on the right setting, but the cheap diamond testers are pretty confusing without having different stones to compare.

The diamond coating is a scam in itself, the stones are sold as having a coating and being able to foot a diamond tester, but have no coating and don't fool a diamond tester.

I did this test with a moissanite emerald cut and was able to read through the text perfectly, so is it not moissanite? Do the test with emerald cut pls 😢

This only works well with round brilliant cut. I tried an 8x6mm emerald cut and was able to make out that it was text but couldn't read the text. With an emerald cz of the same size I could read the words clearly.
