Wanna know the greatest alcohol stove based cooking and boiling system of all time? The Trangia 27 non-stick cookset. I have literally used it in 40mph (64kph) winds with no wind protection other than the windscreen that is part of the Trangia, and I was still able to cook food in the pots and on the non-stick pan within 15 minutes and boil water in under 10 minutes... It only suffers from the same basic drawback of any alcohol stove, which is that the high winds will mean you go through WAY more fuel. A completely filled up Trangia spirit burner in windless conditions will burn for approximately 40 minutes, but that same amount of fuel will be gone in under 20 minutes in high winds due to the heightened amount of available oxygen gusting past it.

narrower and tall. a windscreen does more than protect from wind. It reflects and directs heat. a tall somewhat narrow windscreen will reflect heat from the pot back to the pot. it will also channel heat from the burner up the sides of the pot heating the pot better.

That's a really inefficient potstand that you used on the Trangia. You need to use a potstand with a larger distance between the pot and the Trangia to get better performance out of the Trangia.

Please make that other video! I have a propane/isobutane stove and I'm thinking of getting an alcohol stove. Maybe an overall comparison between the two systems? Efficiency, weight, simplicity, availability. Isobutane canisters are almost impossible to find, I had to buy a Lixada adapter so I can connect my MSR Pocket Rocket to a Coleman propane tank
