So I started with the hollylark, and in my testing couldn't get both transmitters to record on my Insta 360 x2. it would only record one channel. so returned it and bought the DJI. Works great. always love watching your tech vids! thanks!

Did you use the microphone adapter on X2 ?

I just recently bought the DJI mic set. The main appeal for me was the all in one charging coupled with the additional charges provided by the case. Previously I had the saramonic blink 500 (original version). It always was a pain to charge all 3 components separately, and one would invariably be dead when I wanted to use them. With the DJIs, I leave them charged in my camera bag and they’re always ready to go. If the case battery gets low, I just plug ONE plug in, and they’re ready in a couple hours and good for the next time. Additionally, the saramonics have no case, so they were prone to having the power button accidentally pressed while jostling around in the bag. This led, you guessed it, to a dead battery when I needed a mic. Lastly, the ability to plug in a lavalier mic is a huge plus for me. I looked at the Hollyland and I don’t think they work with an external mic. Thanks for the comparison. I think the Hollylands would be a good fit for a lot of people, and the price is certainly appealing.
@stevestechemporium Жыл бұрын
Agree with this! I think the Hollyland is best suited to iPhone creators who won’t need the mic for anything else. The DJI Mic is an amazing system if you have the budget
@RaymondCalloway Жыл бұрын
So basically the Hollyland Lark is fantastic for iPhones, but iPhones only, essentially it is a one-trick pony, whereas the DJI is more universal with adapters for both iPhones and Android phones as well as being able to be attached to digital cameras and others. If all one has is an iPhone, then the Hollyland works fine and iPhone users can save money.
@stevestechemporium Жыл бұрын
Yes pretty much!
@aanguyen425 Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Hollyland has a M1 version that works with everything like the DJI.

The c1 also has an android version especially for the new iPhones that have the usb c port now so it’s for both 😊
@sean134 ай бұрын
You could also use the Lark C1 as your recording mic and record audio into your iPhone while filming with any camera and then sync the audio and video in editing.

the lark c1 also has a type c option tho

Someone please answer. I’m deciding between the 2 mics but potentially want to do interviews and maybe even podcast in the future. Which one is better for long term goals? Thank you!

I think those who are intent on purchasing the next iPhone consider whether lightning ports will still exist and won't be replaced by USB C before taking any microphone etc purchases.
@stevestechemporium Жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely something to consider. But still there will be people still using iPhone with lightning connectors for years to come. But does put an obsolete date on all these things

I bought a lightning to USB-C adapter for the holy land just to future proof it
@WargodFilms Жыл бұрын
Technically all they need is an adapter lighting to usb c

I bought one, but it won't work unless the receiver is attached to power supply. makes it kind of useless.

Dji for the versatility and it sounded more natural. The lark was good too but people need to realize the next iPhone is going to be usb c so they need to consider that before purchasing the lark where as the dji has both.
@freyafoxmusic Жыл бұрын
Your point makes no sense. The lark max has usb c, so you’d just go USBC to c on the 15 lol

Good test and comparison, thank you. I just bought the Hollyland Lark C1 on amazon, (it should be here today.) It's for my Poco F5 and iPhone 16 Pro as they both use the USB C connector. I personally couldn't tell the difference between either transmitter as both seemed to lose a bit on the top end after the tripod mike introduction. (Probably because it was next to the chest.) I would have liked the opportunity to use it with my Canon camers but it is for use with a phone. (I didn't want any dangling wires!) Hopefully all will be well. Report back later after testing....

Hi Steve, Love your work. All the better as your from Norn Iron. I have a challenge for you if you'd like to pick it up. I’d like to be able to audio record two (occasionally three or four) people while out on a walk, across mountains, beaches and through forests (isn't NI fabulous). Sometimes I might need to record on a busy street traffic. Other times, perhaps often, it might be in a busy café (maybe with hard floors & metal furniture). Not easy to do I know! What, in your view, is best equipment and way(s) to achieve this? Many thanks, Paul PS Happy to help out in any field trials you'd like to do on this.

Ahoy there! So I’ve recorded interviews for clients with up to 4 people on multiple occasions. It’s a lot of work in the edit especially with 3 cameras on the go as well. I would use two sets of DJI mics (or other similar wireless mic system) for this if you want everyone individually mic’d up. Thats the only way to get around background noise is to have a close mic on everyone. You can use the mics as recorders too so you can have one camera that has the receiver for two of the mics and then sync the audio from the other two in post. Probably best to record the audio using the record function on all the mics in case of interference in urban environment. It’s an expensive solution and a lot of work but it’s the simplest in other ways. Alternatively you could just use an omnidirectional mic on the one camera like a Deity d4 Duo and just try and point the mic at people when they are talking. Really the proper way would be to hire a sound guy 😂
@coolfirebleu Жыл бұрын
@@stevestechemporium Oh thank you for replying Steve. Great advice. I did suspect the best way of doing it was to mic everyone up with two sets of DJI mics. I am hoping DJI will bring out a 32bit float version of their wireless mics soon so a lot (more) can be done in post to improve the sound. I wonder how you prevent bleed across mics? ATM I use 2 paid of Røde lavalier mics with a laptop. Yes. I know! Anyway works ok-ish for coffee shop work. Better in quiet hotels etc. Not at all a solution for the walking interviews. But having said that … I will explore the potential of the USB port on the new iphone15. Thanks again Steve. Looking forward to your next releases. Paul
