I feel so bad for Pony. She was so kind and genuinely was trying to do her best with the canvas. Also The canvas had no problem with Pony’s “bedside manner” before she went to The bathroom. It almost felt scripted, that she left because of bedside manner and not just because she couldn’t take it. Making it The tatooers fault and not The weakness of The canvas makes for more dramatic tv!

Immediately lost my respect for the judges after they sent Pony home, and then said that Alexis had the second worst of the day? so if pony finished her tattoo, Alexis would of gone home? are you kidding me? Currently an apprentice photographer under someone who’s been in the business for years and it’s amazing to see the amount of detail that my senior has trained himself to look at. Sure our clients might not notice but it’s something our competitors would and sets us apart from them BECAUSE of our attention to detail. Personally I liked Alexis’s piece and think the tiki looking head should have gone home simply bc of perspective. For me getting proportions and perspectives down is a much bigger Issue than the Alexis’s lack of fine detail/line work.

I’ve only seen this vid but the judging comes off as sexist and biased, instead of judging purely on artwork and competition rules. I respectfully disagree if you look at the canvas’s other tattoos the sugar skull is mainly an outline suggesting she tapped out on that out too. The tattoos on the canvas’s bicep looks more complete but if it’s colored it’s very light blue to the point where she skin could be coming through. I think she used the language issue as a scape goat for being a wimp primarily based on her unfinished tattoos.

I also cringe at the way they judge tattoos on the female canvases by saying it's too "masculine" to be on a woman's body. There’s nothing Pony could have done to make that canvas stay. If she opted out with only that much of the tattoo done then she has zero pain tolerance. You can even see that her other tattoos aren’t finished, which probably means she left early on those too. It really sucks when good artists go home solely because of a bad canvas. It doesn’t happen often, cause even if there’s a bad canvas the artist can succeed. But Pony’s was impossible, Pony could of been the most considerate human on Earth and it wouldn’t of mattered. That canvas clearly doesn’t have the durability to be getting tattoos.

I detest how gendered ink master is. "this tattoo looks like a woman did it", homie, their genitals aren't the things that are doing the tattooing. I would leave a shop instantly if my artist was trying to put me in some stupid box like that. Art is art, and the judges are just stupid for limiting it.

i don’t get how pony’s light outlines of where she was tattooing is such a huge deal… is it any different than a tattoo artist doing the outline and shading it in? or the artist having to go over a line twice?

I'm seeing a lot of this "Pony" artist before watching the video. Mostly comments about her being an amazing artist, how it was unfair how her canvas left, and how kind she is. I'm curious to watch this episode now. Edit: these comments are correct. That canvas was a twat. Obviously English isn't her first language, and you practically snap at her like that? That was one of the most beautiful roses I've ever seen tattooed. Even unfinished. I hope that Pony has succeeded far past anyone's, including her own, expectations, wherever she is.

@ChronicRen
@ChronicRen 3 жыл бұрын
The word tiger in the context of Native American culture means big cats in general. So like a mountain lion would count as a tiger. The artist just didn’t do proper research and assumed that it referred to bangled tigers without realizing that tigers are from a whole different continent and they don’t live anywhere near where native Americans lived/live. If they thought about it for more then a second they’d realize that and double check the meaning of tiger in the context of Native American culture.

Aren't tigers specifically from Asia? How could native americans have any kind of cultural belief or background towards an animal they not only never would have seen, but likely would never even hear talked about when settlers arrived?
