Lairdframe owner here. I sent my frame back twice: when I first got it the seatstay bridge rubbed the tire! Mike paid for the shipping back to to him, removed the excess material, and sent it right back. Sure, I was bummed about the initial problem but his customer service on that was outstanding. Later, saw a hairline crack in the weld of the (integrated) seatpost clamp. This time I paid to ship it but he fixed it immediately. Actually he modified it for me by adding material for a traditional seatpost clamp, no charge, and sent it right back. Good to go! If I ever break this frame I’m going straight back to him.

I almost feel like the Hoffman/Mongoose "lifetime" warranties are worse that all the one year warranties. I mean if they're not covered if you use them for leaving the floor or "stunting" then its just lip service at that point. Plus the added cheek of being able to say "lifetime warranty" which really sounds impressive and may convince people who dont look it to it. A scam basically.

Great video, Brant! Super-informative! Sunday (Lifetime) is definitely the standout. I remember YEARS ago when Hoffman were more popular, I was unimpressed with their warranty. Bent the George but the SD4 and Flash held up just fine. This will be a bit long.. A warranty probably isn't something most will have to deal with on any frame or fork that comes with lifetime coverage but it's fantastic peace of mind that a company has such confidence in their products. Personally, I would never purchase or ride a frame that isn't 100% Chromoly and featuring a one-piece steerer tube on the fork. Feel like you only bend or snap one set of forks and then you have to move onto one-piece for the rest of your life for a mixture of confidence and safety. Looking over 2021 complete bike releases, I see a lot of bikes featuring a Chromoly downtube or maybe the whole front triangle is Chromoly and I accept this in the cheaper to mid-range bikes. Though, I see some big names releasing bikes that have quite high price tags yet still feature a frame that isn't 100% Chromoly or surprisingly worse, is 100% yet comes with a 2-piece steerer tube fork. May sound like I'm being overly picky but what I'm trying to point out at the end of all this is that you want to really look deep when considering a new ride. The cost, the warranty fine print, frame geometry, 100% Chromoly frame and 1-Piece steerer tube fork, large tyre clearance and internal chain tensioners. If an option, you may want to consider drive side if you grind on the same side as your sprocket. An extra $200-400 might make all the difference down the track. Personally, I went with a 2020 coral red WTP Battleship at a quarter of the price off during a sale. It ticked all the boxes for me and is legitimately packed with parts you can feel confident and rely on. The end :P
@Brant_Moore3 жыл бұрын
Haha yep you’re 10000% right in all of that though. That’s why I refuse to recommend anything less than full chromoly completes to anyone on this channel. I own a Federal Churchill frame for almost 6 years now and have crashed several times and have abused it learning hop barspins and currently learning hop whips. I also own the last Cult OSv4 Trey Jones colorway when that released and it is taking the same abuse. When I got the Federal frame I was surprised to read the warranty card, as for the Cult frame not sure if the LBS misplaced the warranty card. I trust any legit BMX company with the parts they make so I am not that worried, also BMX isn't really that expensive (if you look out for sales and good deals on marketplaces like ebay or facebook) even with my small income, I would be pissed if I won't get a good warranty if I was forking out for those high-end mountain bikes or road bikes.

I send it on warranty more for an experiment rather than hope of getting new stem. After 3 days I got information from a store I bought the stem in that they accepted warranty claim and I can pick up any stem that i want and they will deduct price of the cult stem from price of new stem. Pretty cool move. But their frame warranty is a joke, my friends frame cracked near chainstay bridge after 5 months and they basically said shit happens mate, we don’t approve this claim, go get a new one. @@Brant_Moore when people repaint the frame, they often remove the paint and raw the frame first. If this is not done correctly, the frame can rust under the new paint and corrode and possibly break due to material fatigue.
