Try wetting your hair with water BEFORE getting in the pool to help stop your dry hair from absorbing the salts and chlorine while swimming . Bonus points for further blocking the absorption by applying some deep conditioner, or leave in after you wet it. Also at the end of a busy swim season ask ur stylist about a Malibu treatment to remove salt, heavy metals and chlorine. Happy summer

Hi Susie! Your hair looks beautiful and really healthy! My little girl's hairstyles and dermatologist have both advised to get your hair with clean water before going into the beach or chlorine pools, so the hair absorbs the clean water and not the salt and chlorine. It helps tremendously! Hope this helps you as well.

Hello. Glad you back. I am a huge fan of AG 🇨🇦. Chatters have great sales. I find I use less product s then the drug store brand so the more expensive lasts long at these cost per use is less. They also have sustainable packaging. Another brand I like is verb. The CFG topped with a harder hold gel is great

My stylist recommended and used the Redken bonding stuff on my hair and I loved it! Made my hair gorgeous! But! Be careful of it. There is a warning on the bottles that it could make you sun sensitive. And that’s what happened to me - my scalp ended up getting a sunburn and I wasn’t even in the sun that much. I was so disappointed that I can’t use it. 😢

Susy, I’m like you! I’ve been trying to find a gel that makes my hair nice without frizz, but I too don’t mind a little bit of frizz. And it’s cheaper than most things out there, so I feel like it’s a better value. As a mom of 4, I need value and practicality. Thank you for always keeping it real here!

You're the reason why I started using Biotera gel. I tried other gels, but I still love Biotera, it gives me good curl clumps. Have you tried Biolage gel? I've bought it, but haven't tried it yet. I've also bought Ouidad climate control gel (the red bottle), which I've heard is really good. I just haven't tried it yet. It's a little bit on the pricey side, but I bought it at Amazon when it was on sale. I like mousses too. I haven't tried Herbal Essence, but I will. Thanks for the review & suggestion.

I know I’m late joining the conversation so summer is over….first so nice to see you :) second, FWIW if hair liked the marshmallow root you might like Camille Rose CurlLove Moisture Milk leave-in. It smells like crème brûlée and leaves my hair sooo soft. I also enjoy the CurlMaker gel, only it doesn’t protest against frizz so I am still trying to make it work because I love the definition it gives, the scent and the soft texture it leaves.

Om gosh , my curly hair has been so dry. I never blow dry my hair or go swimming. I’ve been using Shea leave in conditioner and Cantu leave in conditioner. I can’t afford $40 a bottle for Redkin, so maybe you can do another review of just the products you love, the leave in by Shea that you love is kind of pricey and it doesn’t seem like it would last… but I don’t know. Mouse’s tend to dry out my hair. So I’m at a lose

I love Susie! She is so funny! I like that she is so frugal. I am sad because I purchased the gel. It does work, ok, but Im sure the Redkin works better. and the Shea moisturizer that smells not so lovely; I put that in a spray bottle with water, and it works well. The issue is, I have been trying so hard not to spend money on Redken products, or Quai curl cream, and all of those hair products that cost so much money. But I have spent so much money trying to avoid spending so much money! 😅 So, the moral of the story is that you get what you pay for, and they do cost more for a reason. 😂

You changed your part I think that side is excellent for your hair style now. I have stopped doing anything curly girl I just wash and condition my hair with my many curly girl shampoos and then when it dry I put it up in a bun knot and that is my hair do every day. I hate having hair around my face now plus its cooler getting it off my neck. I am going to try and do my hair more often because of you Susie being back and I feel motivated again. If and when I run out of products I will try some but I do like the Biotera gel but quit all of the style business when I couldn't get it any more and now I am stuck with jars of gels that I don't like or the smell......that's a huge one. So I am going to get the litre of Biotera gel that I liked and get back into the swing of styling my hair again. ♥glad your back♥from Alberta.

I agree that lots of companies are now jumping on the 'bond repair ' bandwagon - and I am extremely skeptical of their claims. I do believe that Olaplex works and I use number 3 once a month. As for the newer 'bond repair ' shampoos and conditioners out there, I'm willing to give them a try (not for the bond repair, but just to see if they make my hair feel/look good)...

Love the shea moisture spray leave in. My only issue is every time the sprayer breaks on me and I wish they would put it either in a pump or a regular squeeze bottle top instead of the sprayer. However if you dilute it when you're down to the dregs it makes a great detangler spray.

I am a mousse girl myself and I have been loyal to certain HE products since last century. That mouse is an absolute fav. Gels usually disposer into my hair and I prefer a cast. There’s been a couple that I found and one of them is the Twist gel in the white bottle. It gave my full hair some shine and just all over was the best gel I ever used. It’s only available on Amazon now and I live in an area that their software can’t always find so I’ve given up. My hair is frizzy and that gel worked like a miracle. It’s by Ouidad. I tried their pricier gel and that was a bust.

Thank you for your videos they are very helpful! I have been using Herbal Essence mousse for 2 years now and it's the only thing I've kept in my routine. Everything else I'm still trying to figure out. My hair was straight until a few years ago and it began developing a wave. Now part of its wavy, part curly and the crown is more straight. It's frustrating. I tried the Cantu curl activating cream for the first time last night. I think it helped with the definition A lot! But I still need more hold bc I have thick coarse hair. I need a stronghold gel but without a lot of glycerin bc I have noticed that for some reason my hair doesn't do well with it. It just won't hold well. Anyway thanks and yes that mousse is a winner and Herbal Essence products have great scent too.

@maryc60914 ай бұрын
Yes. I have been hearing that about polyquats being good and glycerine being bad for frizz. So I bought a leave-in conditioner with polyquats and no glycerine. We are having a very hot humid and rainy summer here in Ontario and my frizz has been CRAZY. I’ve only used the product once so far and the results have been disappointing. No help with frizz. Perhaps the next time I wash my hair I’ll add some AG Recoil in with the leave-in and see what happens. 😀🤞🏻

I like Curlsmith's Bond Salve. It isn't cheap, but the large bottle lasts a long time, and my hair seems to like it
@TessaRamsay4 ай бұрын
I just googled Redken Acidic dupe and basically you can achieve similar results with other bonding products. I have loved Curlsmith’s Multitasking conditioner and their Rescue salve, but I’m experimenting with other budget protein products. I’ve got some rice water fermenting for a wash day tomorrow. I put Bragg’s amino acids in a low quality mask the other day. I want to try a gelatin mask and also flax gel layered under my hard hold gel. Not Your Mother’s bond repair line is what I’ll be transitioning to for protein needs. Basically, give your hair a variety of protein sizes for balanced absorption. I’m playing with shampoo bars at the beach and using hot water jugs, then using the cold beach shower for conditioning products 🥰. If you haven’t tried Harry’s gel, it’s my favorite! I live by the beach and not much creates a cast for me but this is awesome and affordable! Also love NYM mousse for root volume without the weight of gel up there.

I almost purchased that Redken line but it was to expensive. I ended up buying that same SM Amla line including the oil. I also bought the L'Oreale Everpure bond line. I read in several comment section that it is the same as the Redken but cheaper. I haven't tried any of the products yet and hopefully they work because my hair is dry and splitting everywhere. The reason why your hair felt dry with the SM Amla products could be protein overload.

I am a product junkie, and I had your top 2 products in my stash. The problem with me is I wasn’t being diligent with tracking my results and would forget which products I liked and didn’t like. So I will pull those back out to try. One I will say I tried and absolutely hate is the Wow color security conditioner for fine hair. I heard so much about this line I was curious to try it. I have type 3a curls and it took every bit of curl I have from my hair…I realize it is not a ‘curly’ product, but omg it was awful. My hair was straight and frizzy. It wasn’t cheap and I’d like to gift it to someone who wants to get rid of their curls…lol. I have the styling crème from Wow but I am afraid to use it now. My favorite product lately has been the Devacurl melt into moisture mask…I leave it on for 15 minutes and I have fluffy, bouncy, moisturized curls…I know there was a hate campaign against this company but I never had a problem with any of their products.
