Felix!! The rascals are still my favourite band!! They're awesome!! Love every lp!!!! Every song!!

Felix was an excellent singer, he made all those Rascals tunes special. Like a lot of groups, they ended up disbanding because they couldn't get along. If anyone remembers The Troggs ("Wild Thing") they disbanded after a fist fight in the recording studio!

Really enjoying these interviews with Felix Cavaliere.I have to be honest the extent of my fandom didn't really go past what was playing on the radio then.....man those songs sounded good...still do. My first album of their's was See Carry me Back and the title cut ....two of my favorite songs. Loving how Felix is still playing/interested in music...he seems to light up as he shares his stories 🕊🕉 Wish I had caught some interviews with him back in the day 🎶

I love Felix's stories. Gregg Rolie of Journey plays a Hammond B 3 organ too. Big brown wooden thing. LOL

Felix didn't go "off the rails" like a lot of Rock&Rollers did back then.

As a keyboardist that first learned on a Hammond (not a B3 but a BC) back in the early 70's, I get what Felix is talking about. However, I couldn't do the bass pedal thing as Felix does as my brain is not that independent-minded...I NEED a bassist behind me to allow me stretch chordally. That said, Felix was such a innovator, that Korg released the CX-3 Hammond emulator with a patch specifically called "Felix DaKat" in homage to him.

People Got To Be Free represents Hippie freedom in every sense for the 60s

Most people back then had to work. Middle class kids ran off and did the smelly hippie thing. Then mostly grew up.

So many 60's records would have been "meatier" if they had used a Hammond instead of a wimpy organ. Of course those wimpy organs were much easier to tour with.

When they went jazzy they went down sadly

Yes, indeed they did. I would loved to have seen them stick to their R&B roots at least on half of their album cuts. Maybe could have tried recording in New Orleans or Fame Studios to soak up a little Southern Funk.

The rascals should have stuck to rock and roll. From Ms. Harper Stacey.
