I think we should reconsider naming "The New Era" for the simple fact that people will say "it's a new era for WWE" when they're talking about the Reinassance Era (which was coined by a man named FalseStartPod) i saw earlier someone named SkullBreaking said 2016-2019 was the "Modern Era" and honestly, I can't think of a better time period for that term. When I hear best “wrestler” they had to be entertaining and could pull off a great match, not just one or the other. Golden Era - Hulk Hogan (see Hogan v. Andre the Giant/Savage/Ordorff/Piper/Warrior). New Generation - Undertaker (see Taker v. Yokozuna/Mankind/Shawn Michaels/ Bret Hart/Austin…etc. Attitude Era - Tie with Stone Cold and Rock (see every match of these guys with anyone between 1998-2002), Ruthless Agression - John Cena (see Cena v. If we're talking technical professional wrestling then I'd agree on Steamboat and then choose Bret over HBK but if we're talking overall professional wrestler then I'd have to give the golden age to Macho Man and then HBK because. Steamboat and Bret were not top tier on the mic. HBK wasn't top tier on the mic either but more than good enough since he could work the crowds well and put on superb maches. Macho Man could put on superb matches and work the crowd but also was gold on the mic. The attitude era will always have people torn but gotta give that spot to Stone Cold. The Rock was popular, perfection on the mic, could have the crowd any way he wanted but Stone Cold was more popular during that area and on top of insane crowd participation, he was gold on the mic as well, put on superb matches but his character had such unpredictability that people would watch every Monday to see what he was going to do because we just never knew what to expect from him week to week and that was thrilling. The Undertaker was like a pillar of the WWE but his mic work was always limited to fit his character which unfortunately limited his potential popularity and yes, popularity has to be factored in because this is professional scripted wrestling so there's more to it than just being the best in ring worker. On the next one, I'd have to fully agree that Kurt Angle was it. He was good on the mic, could work the crowd great and potentially unmatched in the ring. The next era could go to Kurt as well. Next I'd have to say CM Punk because although Brian was extremely good in the mic, Punk was the overall better pro wrestler package. I could also agree on AJ Styles next. In the current Era I'd have to say Seth Rollins. Gunther hasn't reached the level he undoubtedly will just yet but I believe he will eventually.
