I think we need to take a step back - and ask ourselves a few questions. 1. MUST I BE ON KZbin, and HoW MUCH KZbin is needed. In the frenzy of the last decade, KZbin and social media has become a thing. But one needs to ask how much value really does being on KZbin and Social Media create, and of course this depends on your audience. Depending on the content, KZbin may not always be the right or only medium, cos KZbin may be simply a window - like a commercial advert, to pull the audience to go to your store e.g your web site to look at things in more detail. i.e is the KZbin video the "product" or a signpost to the product. The answer will determine how much effort goes into this. 2. VIDEO "CURRENCY" how current will this video be. What kind of video are we creating - one for the moment - news worthy, hype worthy, valuable because of the timeliness of the info - like news, or are we creating a video which has a medium term relevance or will be relevant for many years to come. The time relevance of the video will determine how much effort one needs to put into the video, in gear, etc, etc. Otherwise you are investing good money in bad if for example investing so much money in a video that will become obsolete in a few days - bad decision. 3. RETURN ON INVESTMENT To make the Sound of Music or the Godfather, or Star Wars, which will be watched over and over and over for decades, they spend a lot of money. To make an Attenborough BBC documentary they still spend a lot, but not as much as a Star Wars film To report on Donald Trump, I do not think they need to spend much money. SO my point is that KZbin needs to be thought of as a business decision, unless its of course just a hobby and there are no commercial considerations. How much am I getting from making this Youtue video, and this informs how much I should invest in it. KZbin is a platform - free to publish, but really not free cos it takes time, money, effort, to create content for KZbin. Only the publishing is free - you still have to promote it - which is not free takes effort, to get people to find your video.

A lot of newer channels think that in order to create a successful channel, they need expensive equipment and that's simply not the case. I literally use a $5 lamp I got from target and I taped some paper over it to diffuse the light evenly. I know it might not be the best and most impressive lighting setup, but for someone who records in my room with limited space, it works wonders. I'm on the verge of breaking 1000 subscribers and I can tell you right now, it's because of the quality of my content and engagement with my audience, not how much I've spent on equipment. Good luck everyone!!! 😬

Exactly!! I've just started and i have a window in my room and frosted windows, and bam my smartphone on my laptop screen and I'm good to go, it's always quality over quantity and content over fancy!!!😌😌

In keeping with the theme of this video, I’m finding that it’s actually pretty fun to see my video quality improve each month, both from slowly upgrading gear to just more practice with making videos. KZbin is a journey, and it’s pretty fun to actually see progress. Remember everyone, seek progress, not perfection!

Very true I feel the same with my videos
@StrengthResurgence4 жыл бұрын
@@dantrixter yeah it’s funny because at first I was very self-conscious about the video quality, lack of editing, etc. But I feel that every video of mine improves just a wee little bit, and it’s been really cool to start to see how things get a bit better each time (by my standards, anyways) as I put out each new video. Best of luck on your channel!!

DUDE - THANK YOU for breaking this into laymans terms regarding the 'blurry background' issue!!! Not a single KZbinr has said this! I think it's one of those 'its so simple it gets overlooked'. I finally figured this out a little bit ago when it came time for me to build my own studio. But I WISH another creator had just come out and said this!

Awesome gear suggestions! I just purchased the Sony ZV-1 and I also film with my Samsung Note 10 plus. I think that people who are new to KZbin should consider purchasing their equipment slowly and overtime as they need it as everyone has different needs. I would highly suggest that if you do a lot of indoor videos, then you need to have good lighting. The audio coming out of your phone or cameras are quite decent and as long as you have excellent content you will be fine. If you are doing voice overs then definitely upgrade microphone as the computer mics are not that great. I do like the idea of using the Diety mic as it does contribute to a better sounding audio for your video. Thanks for sharing this information Omar. You talk at a great pace making it easy to understand you. Some other people on this channel either speed up the the video or talk way too fast. Have a fantastic day!

The Canon M50 is available on the Canon refurbished site for $422. A great deal! That, plus the Sigma 16mm or the Canon 22mm ($159 refurbished) make for a great deal! (Sure, you can't really film 4K with it, but otherwise it's a great and easy-to-use starter camera.)

Good Video. But a capture card will not work with the M50 because the M50 does not have a clean HDMI output feature. Instead you can use a USB Cable and the Canon Webcam Utility software from their website and it works (also on Mac).

Okay so I have about $1,000 to spend on a camera. I'm thinking of the Canon M50 Mark II and the sigma 16 mm 1.4 aperture. I already have the a6100. I plan to stream and make videos with these cameras. Do you still recommend I get the a6600, and get the sigma 16 for that one when I have the money for the lens? I'll find another $400 for the a6600 if that is the best option.
