I think Flash's lack of anti-air really hurt him, here. Those mutas kept killing off so many tanks, and once Soulkey killed off the Valkyries, the Overlord drops were just uncontested, and did devastating damage again and again. Even some Marines would have been something of a deterrent to that, if he'd had enough of them. Vultures are cost efficient, yes, but not when your own mines are getting dragged into your tanks.

Flash will dead faster if he trans 1/3 of his tank to goliate, Uta+crackling is fearsome if your tank count is down.

It's called late-mechanic by koreans. Most terrans these days use this strat since they are stronger and stable than bio against hive zerg.

Why is there never variation in the unit composition they use? TvZ is always the same bio vs mutalisks that need to constantly run away. SC1 feels incredibly stale compared to SC2 where even now there are new metas spawning.

Firstly you speak only about early game TvZ and then say "stale" about whole game. Someday SC2 will be 24 years old too and I bet there will be some "stale" meta moments in some of early game match-ups, once they'll be proved to be most effective over the years.

@@AlojzyZyrokompas In SC2 there is a real need to vary builds from time to time, as there are much better defined counters to everything. Basically if you have an equally skilled player who knows for sure beforehand what you are going to play, then your chances of winning go down drastically. And for protoss it's even more dramatic. There are many many builds to pick from and that element of surprise is key since they can also be hard countered.

They used most of the units from the roster: T used: SCV, marine, medic, firebat, vulture, siege tank, goliath, science vessel, valk. units that werent used: BC, dropship, wraith, ghost so thats 8/12 units used Z used: drone, zergling, lurker, ultra, defiler, overlord, muta, scourge. Z didnt use: hydra, queen, guardian, devourer thats 8/11 And most of the units could be used in a TvZ. BCs are great for lategame harrassment, dropships can be used for M&M drops (but didnt happen because he elected to go for a mech switch). Only wraith/ghost arent used in this matchup. Z couldve used hydras for a defiler/hydra combination, queens can be used to kill siege tanks as well, guardian/devourers are kinda niche. For a 25 year old game with only a few patches thats pretty good. Ive played plenty of RTS in which you use like 5 of the 20 units in any match.

The supply advantage for terran is normal , since defilers and lurkers are powerful and expensive yet don't take much supply while terran has cheap marines taking 1 supply each. Flash was not ahead in the mid game.

Pico141 flash spent a full two minutes making a tech switch. For those two minutes he was under no danger. He was definitely ahead.

But... that's just how TvZ works dude, do you even play this game? Mech switch works because after zerg takes 3rd base he wants to just make drones and a few extra hatches and make some lurkers and defilers to have defense and then to take 4th and make some counterattacks with them and lings - but zerg needs to be on 3 gases for a moment to start having enough "spare" stuff to make those counterattacks. If zerg has any real threat against the Terran at that stage then Terran fucked something up earlier. Even though it does not look like it because of how this matchup works, at the moment of transition Soulkey was in a really comfortable situation with plenty of drones, 3 gases, stable defenses and a perspective to take a fourth base soon. Not ahead either, but comfortable.
