I carry a kuksa to drink from. If you want to use the press just as a pot, take the knob off and use a piece of gutted paracord threaded through the hole on the lid to lift it. I pack the French press parts flat as I can easily reassemble them when needed. The manufacturers now use a wooden knob as it is even lighter. That old stainless steel k.nob was a chunk of the weight.

I think when the grounds are steeping you should be using the plunger assembly not the plain cap, that way you can push the grounds down a little way until they are fully in the water and not floating on top. Soaks up more flavor that way. Also you can bleed out air and top off a notch more.

Seems like a good system if you like coffee. I do like it can also be used to heat water and cook with. Kind of a bummer it is separate as 70 bucks seems pretty steep.

Get the Lixada, exactly the same, you purchase only cup with the press, not a set with cup. I paid $19 in Amazon a few months ago. The bail comes out and back in with no problem. The press fits other cups too.

You couldn't get a mug to nestle into the French press because the plunger has to be flush to the side walls of the French press so you don't have ground in your coffee, but maybe nest the French press into a mug? Just a thought

That's where I was going with it, the French Press being nestled inside of another mug. Definitely wouldn't work the other way around. It'd be interesting to see if they could come up with something like that. Thanks for watching and the comment!

I'd like to know about clean up on the press. Can it be used in reverse, the filter in the bottom and then pulled up filtering out the grounds?

No, it can only be used one way. As far as clean-up goes, it's just dumping the grounds out, adding a little bit of water to get what stuck on the side out, and rinsing off the filter. Thanks for watching!

I make my coffee every morning with this say press.....why would you heat the water in another container, just add water, coffee and heat....then press and pour into any mug.

I don't heat the water and the coffee in the same pot at the same time. When I'm out camping, I always heat the water in the container I'm going to drink it out of, especially in cold weather, so I have a warm cup when the coffee is finished brewing. Adding hot coffee into a cold metal cup cools it down drastically, and I like a hot cup of coffee. I also think that the coffee steeps better when you add the hot water on top of the grounds. It allows the oils to rise to the top and that's where all the flavor is. To each thier own of course, this is how I've found to get the most flavor out of my coffee. Lixada titanium French press, exactly the same, I paid $19 in Amazon. The press fits the Stanley system with the green cups too and the Bestargo titanium 900 mll pot with handle similar to the Stanley if you need to go lighter weight. The bail can be taken out if you want to drink out of it and put right back afterwards, no big deal.

Does anyone know the dimensions of this pot (and press) are the same as a toaks 750 or a pathfinder cup? I already have those and then could just buy the spare bestargot press instead of the one with the cup.

I couldn't tell you if it's the exact dimensions as the Toaks 750, but I do use the toaks 850 and in comparison it is only slightly larger, so I'm guessing that the press is the same size as the Toaks 750. I'm just guessing though based off of the dimensions I'm looking at, I could be wrong.
