This show has such a great concept. No nasty competition, but a celebration of each other. And it is indeed great to see every group getting closer every episode. I have a soft spot for people from Suriname (which used to be a part of the Dutch Kingdom). Most of em are very warm, happy and positive people. And it's very contagious. My Surinam friends actually pulled me out of a depression once. Every time I would say something negative they gave me sorta a verbal slap on the hand and told me how to see the same thing in a positive way. Most of these friends grew up with hardly anything. And instead of it making them bitter, it made them grateful for the things they did/do have.

What a wonderfully pure and sincere person you are. Your comment is lovely and honest. And finally in this (my last for today) long video you praise the band members. I myself was surprised that almost all the clips you commented on were live recordings. Not only "The best singers" but also the "RTL-Late Night" and concerts were without orchestral tapes. I am Dutch but live in England en my mother and I are both fan from Beste Zangers and when ever we watch the shows we phone each other afterwards to discuss and we are everytime alway so touched and in Aw of this show. The respect of everybody for each others genres, the warmth and friendship. It is the best honest pure program that exist. These shows always leave you with such a wonderful feeling.... The first years at this program the managers of the singers came with them to Ibiza. There was not real bonding between the singers because the managers took to much time and energy. Now they leave the manager home and Tadaa a great show.

I don't know where you get this info, but the bonding used to be much more informal than nowadays. The program developed over the years. At the first 3 or 4 seasons it was the aim of the program to find a replacement singer in case a singer gets sick. But they dropped that, because the contenders did find it hard to rank their college contenders. So over the years they made some slide changes to the program it is today. That Marron he sang is a truly indigenous language! What!? In Suriname there are more dialect, of the inner tribes, there is Dutch from the colonists, and also the crossover which Brace used, Sranantongo, but also even Indonesian or Hindu crossovers. Actually when the Dutch gave up their rule, a civil war erupted. Many people died. Kenny was in the thick of it, it appears, and negotiated the truce.

From J: This makes my request for "Maan - Jij bent de liefde | Beste Zangers" superfluous. Please do "Maan - Give You All I Got - RTL LATE NIGHT" instead (bit naughty ;-)). Maan singing "Jij bent de liefde" was later that year voted "music moment of the year" by the dutch public. In the meantime she changed over to mainly dutch songs and is quite succesfull with that.

Surinam language is called: Sranang Tongo which freely translated means language spoken with a Surinam tongue 😛. You can find Dutch and English back in the language. There's a whole history to it (slavery). The Surinam have got there own music too: kaseko. Just an update because you commented on the language. 😜💞

In Suriname (Sranang) they still speak several languages dutch, hindi urdu also the languages of the original inhabitantsbut the language in the song "Paramaribo" is sranang tongo wich is a mixture of english, portugese and dutch. This can be seen as the official language of Surinam because most of the people speak sranang tongo. If you listen careful as an english speaking person you might undertstand what they are saying example "me lobi you" i love you.

I always enjoyed the language a lot in music, even though I can only understand some words and sentences. If I hear it I go straight back to my childhood period in the "Bijlmer". The people, the music and the food are very dear to my heart.

It is indeed like you said, a whole show. It touches every emotion you've got in your bones and veines. I laughed, i cried, i was amazed, i was interested, i felt love and anger. i've seen this show from day one and always felt at home, feeling a warm embrace, enjoying the music, respecting the way they see eachother and also laughed at the typical Dutch humor at times. Wholesome!!! BTW: the song of Maan has been on my playlist from the day this episode was broadcasted. It brings me to tears everytime. I saw the same drops of water at your face. Embrace.

Haha we also have a Band whitout a name (BZN) and they also have lots of hits and lots of albums. They are from the village calld Volendam . This, Beste Zangers 2017 was fabulous. Only to be followed by Beste Zangers 2018 (Trijntje etc) and Beste Zangers 2019 (Henk Poort, Floor Jansen etc) that were fantastic aswell. The Nightwish fans, and to an unmeasurable amount the YT’ers during Covid-19 lockdowns have made these songs even more well known Every time I watch this I keep enjoying it.
