You're deluded. The whole reason the Premier League exists was FOR and because OF mega money. United happened to be one of the Clubs that backed for it's creation as they were looking at profits over the current Division of the time. You need only see all the sponsors of the time and the players playing. Not to mention Sky Sports getting a hand in it as well. Look at the Juve and Madrid teams. All the world's best. That said, it was a fantastic time in Football as there was a equilibrium between passion, loyalty, skill and finances.
@declanshanahan38886 ай бұрын
What you on about? Wages are relative, the Premier League has had loads of cash swimming around it since the mid 90s
@Nick-mb7wc5 ай бұрын
Anyone disagreeing with the OP is wrong. Football is dead. Look at the old games. Arsenal vs Man U and Keane vs Viera etc. 90s and early 2000s was the peak, and what a wonderful peak it was. Wonderful footballers but also men. I can still feel the passion I felt for the game when I watch these replays. Firstly, the game became pathetic because the players became pathetic. The diving is disgusting. And any self respecting man would have no part of it while the world watches on. Rugby never embraced cheating, and cheating by making yourself look as weak as a 10 year old is beyond embarrassing When Ronaldo arrived at Man U, he was insulted for diving. He had to get tough in a mans game and became one of the best the world had as a result. I have zero respect for Neymar and the game as a whole, where winning by cheating came above masculine pride or valid acconplishments. Money also ruined it as 18 years old, with nothing of worth to add, beyond kicking a ball, make it before they have to fight to make it. There is no steel. The England football team wanted people to stop being critical of them, to protect their feeble mentality during the recent tournament. What kind of wet nonsense is that? They had money in the 90s, but it came when you became a giant in the game Mr 18 years old with spots had to work to it. Unless, they were like Michael Owen. Talent dictated it then. Now, all of them are paid too early, before they accomplished anything, and that stunts development. At 30 they have no heart. And in that way, money did ruin the sport. Just look at boxing. The reason the likes of Ali and frazier, or hearns hagler Duran Leonard, or eubank Ben Collins etc are no longer seen, is because they no longer aspire to the same goals today. Fight to escape the streets and you get Mike Tyson. Remove that and boxing gets a pool of posers who want to look like a fighter rather than be a fighter. If money and girls and ego drive you, then you are always going to be way short of true greatness. Footballers today couldn't survive in an old Man U vs Arsenal game. They had to win first, with the wages a nice bonus. Its the other way round niw. The pay check is the goal. Imagine any of them playing against Duncan Ferguson 😅 1 season wonders, every last one of them. Football is dead. But great sport is not. It just moved house.
@apropercuppa86125 ай бұрын
@@Nick-mb7wc TL;DR. Nobody is disagreeing that Football is, in many ways dead. Rather, OP was clearly wrong about the money not being an issue then.

Dear Sir Alex Ferguson, I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Fahmi A , and I am writing to you from Ethiopia. I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for everything you have done for Manchester United and for fans like myself around the world. Growing up, Manchester United was more than just a football club to me; it was a source of joy, inspiration, and unforgettable memories. I was only 13 years old during the 2007/8 Champions League final, but the happiness I felt that day is something I will never forget. Your leadership and vision brought so much success to the club, and those moments are etched in my heart forever. The era you led at Manchester United was truly golden. The passion, dedication, and spirit you instilled in the team were remarkable. Every player from that time holds a special place in my heart, and the memories of those matches are cherished deeply. You made my childhood special, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Although I may never have the opportunity to meet you in person, I wanted you to know how much you and your era mean to me. Your legacy lives on in the hearts of fans like myself, and the impact you had on the world of football is immeasurable. Thank you, Sir Alex, for the countless moments of joy and for making Manchester United a club that I am proud to support. Your era will always be a part of me, and I will continue to cherish those memories for the rest of my life. With heartfelt gratitude and admiration, Fahmi Abdulaziz

I honestly think the end of the Ferguson era changed the whole of English football and not for the better ! The overall quality in the EPL has dropped dramatically in the last decade, there used to be loads of truly ‘world class’ players back then which you don’t see nowadays. There are a lot of players in the top league that aren’t that much better than those in the Championship. There is too much focus on not losing as opposed to going out to ‘win’ and that means we’re lucky if we get 3-4 genuinely exciting, end to end games these days either.

Man United has sunk while the Premier league generally has improved.
@Nightopian19828 ай бұрын
I'm not entirely sure I'd agree entirely with that as a United fan. There's certainly something about watching more teams produce decent football, but for me the problem is that teams have forgotten how to defend properly, and I certainly don't think the football in the 00's was less impressive than today. I also don't like the fact that sides that play City, Arsenal and Liverpool tend to set up to not lose heavily, and certainly not to win. So many times against United back in the day we used to see opponents have a go. A lot of this is the style of play. City play death by possession football, which other teams simply can't replicate. We need to see sides mix it up a bit. 4-4-2 and a couple of strikers, with wingers pumping balls into the box, it might ruffle the feathers more cos City can't be beaten at their own game.

Great analysis 😂

Yeah standard these days is shocking. City are a good team. Arsenal have 5 or 6 good players (though dont think any would make their title winning teams)...liverpool very ordinary....and the rest as you said wouldnt look out of place in the championship. Seems to get worse every year......even listening to pundits trying to pick a team of the year....its a struggle!
@tonyclayton6975Күн бұрын
@@Nightopian1982The problem for defenders these days is you barely have to breathe on someone to get a yellow card. The slightest connection in the box and the attacker goes down like he’s been shot. VAR will then scrutinise this, or an arm being in a raised position in the case of accidental hand ball, from multiple angles and more often than not give the penalty. Trying to keep your arms by your side is a much less natural position than arms being out during dynamic motion. The play acting is ruining the game.

Seeing this makes me realise that why I always felt todays football sucks and kinda incomplete.. Plus, just look at'em goals, strikers today would go near the goal as much they can before making an attempt and look at those old goals chipping from kms away.... Good old days when it was all about passion, love for the game, chemistry bw players, discipline, real masculine players (I mean kick them and they won't go down 😂Tbh)

Finishing was superb in this era. Today players can’t find the face of the goal… ie skills are poor today.

As beautiful as this video is and loads of amazing memories, too... the quick and rapid changing of the camera angles is a bit too much.

Yes, they did spent money on big name established players such as Cantona, Van Nisteroy, Rio Ferderand, etc. Though they did make smart investment in young talent such as Ronaldo, Ole Gunner solesjaeer and Rooney. But most importantly, it was their academy products of Giggs/Beckham/Scholes/Butt/Neville brothers that were the backbone of that era. Giggs played more than 20 years for Utd and has won numerous trophies along the way.
