One of the greatest tragedies in my life was NOT getting the E3 version of Dying Light 2. Everything about it was just so appealing, the art style, the visuals, the UI, the atmosphere, the animations, the characters, the world, the story, all of it, but then Techland took it away from us. I appreciate the effort that Techland has gone to give us a worthwhile experience, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to forgive them for how they handled Dying Light 2 post 2019. Before DL2 launched, I was thinking about those e3 trailers, day in, and day out, it even got to the point where I was freaking DREAMING about playing DL2, but then Techland finally came out of the dark in 2020-21, and my dreams were ruined. Sure, I was still excited for it, but I just knew that this game wasn't going to be ANYWHERE near what we were originally shown. Even today, I occasionally go back and watch those videos, and each time I'm just left with disappointment. I'm not saying they retail DL2 is bad, but I am definitely saying that it could've been SO MUCH BETTER, if only Techland had just stuck with the original 😞 Edit: This mod also looks amazing, and I wish I could play it, but I don't have a PC, so I guess all I can do is hope this comes to console, or wait for Techland to make it a reality themselves :(

Modders are doing Techland's job. Literally. I remember Techland saying they didn't want to work on the flashlight because it was too much work with the lighting engine or something. But here we are with modders fixing the torch and the dynamic day and night cycle.

Yeah, now lets see the performance impact on half the game's platforms by introducing real time shadows on the flashlight. aka consoles... Also no. modders cant do what devs can. Modders can afford the self-imposed time and resources to *hyperfocus* on specific aspects of the game with a *pre-built* foundation. Meanwhile devs have to coordinate with entirely different departments whilst on tight time, budget and overall resource constraints making entire game systems from scratch. Modders aren't devs and devs aren't modders

@@lm_slayer1 exactly. And not even just that. Modders can do mechanics they themselves and many others may like. But it doesn't mean it's ok for a commercial release. Biggest examples are most game's cut content such as Valve's HL2 hydra tentacle enemy. A cool idea but in reality was more of a nuisance than anything. Yet many wanted to mod this enemy back in because personal taste yano. Case in point with DL2 was the viral ledge grab that interrupted you climbing. Sure it's cool the first few times, but as the devs themselves have mentioned in the past, it just becomes annoying interrupting game flow randomly all the time. Which is why they removed it. Fact is, most people wouldn't like it (such as the current viral tackle lol)

That was and probably will always be one of my biggest gripes with current DL2, compared to e3 DL2, it just looked so much more immersive, and appealing, even if the graphics were "technically" worse, I would take the e3 visuals over the current visuals ANY day of the week, month, year, you name it.

Without explaining this in every comment like this... Mods aren't devs and devs arent modders. They are not the same in the slightest so don't go acting like techland devs dont care when they clearly do. I'm sure DL2 devs would love to hyperfocus on every single aspect of the game irrespective of time, budget and their own colleagues work loads. But they can't cause that's not what their job is and that's to make a game. Not spend decades and millions to satisfy every single miniscule request and desire. Nor is it to make game mechanics that *might* be what some people like but realistically mostly just gets in the way of game flow for the commercial audience. A lot of stuff gets cut for a reason even if it's cool, such as HL2's hydras

A really cool asset to have is for starters lvl 5 chase in all modes and when the changing lighting throughout the day was mentioned if we could go “I am legend” style where volatiles can go in the shade during the daytime that would be sick and scary at the same time

Ah, I just don't enjoy playing dying light two. Seriously I don't care about advanced graphics, the first game looks less cartoony. Yeah the draw distance is far inferior, but the lighting is awesome, the designs of the zombies and enemies, well you have a lot of clones. But hey that could be fixed rather easy. Dying light is just perfect, it works, it's mostly a very fluid experience. Dying light two, fuck it may have more pixels probably but just damn it's clunky. It doesn't look good, it's like someone tried to combine a childrens cartoon with a half assed mad max city? I don't know it just looks wrong, gore is random and choppy. Armored enemies essentially will stun you every hit if you do not use two handed weapons. Gore looks way better of course but the first game made it feel buttery smooth and accurate and this game it's clunky and random. Parkour yes the first game is more limited but add tic tac toe and monkey bars and rope swings, would you really know the difference aside from the far more realistic physics and the enemies that can actually keep up with you? Making chases just that much more exciting? Lets not forget guns, the first game gave you 60 shotgun shells, a bit sparce. But they had vendors where you could buy more, realistically Aiden carries a backpack, you should be able to hold equal number of ammo across all guns. But crane could just buy more ammo. We? We have to fight enemies, use ammo, to open boxes, containing ammo. Or fight missions so we can buy a meager 60 bullets for our shotgun from some douchebag who should be giving it to us for free. Dying light two makes no sense, only excels in parkour, looks like shit and feels shit to play, the story is ass and it's not like DL1 had a stellar story but it was serviceable. I would take the first game with the second game's sandbox with the first game's lighting and art style and zombie AI and gore and physics and the second game's advanced amount of gore, ad some more zombie models call it a day. Perfect game.

@@rawflour6757 Yeah they look like stylized reflections of reality, especially when the cartoon features humans. It's often not a one for one style, simplified and recognizable. Sometimes it's a unified style, say the simpsons or family guy style. Some cartoons though simplified try a more realistic style like the Archer toons. All of which I enjoy a lot. Dying light two, in spite of their first game went from realism to, cartoon. Went from getting it as close to reality with the limitations of the hardware and software back then, to Borderlands, it just looks like less pretty borderlands, I dont enjoy borderlands but hey neither do I enjoy dying light two. In short, just because you do not agree with an opinion, stupid as you are, it doesn't mean we don't know what we are talking about. I think perhaps the closest cartoon I can compare this game's looks to is an over saturated star wars the clone wars series.

one of the important thing in this game is something that cannot change ever is map the map is the problem with this game this map includes so muuuuch problems that even if you bring back the e3 this game cannot feel scary or better to say dying light style😢

Still wonder why they decided to merge a lot of skill in skill tree together or make some as known by default skill in retail version since this looks a lot more variety 1:36 This is what happened when game let you stack jump height of Far Jump Skill With Enemy Jump Skill lol 1:55 Hell yeah! I Always wanted to have spears as one of weapon type since they really show it in concept art but wasn't really in the game 2:32 why it's kinda like reuse version of wall kick somehow?

I respect that Techland is trying but damn, this game still isn't what it looked like from E3. I have yet to even finish this games story ONCE despite trying to. The joy of the first game just isn't there despite the efforts they put in. I'll definitely be following this project and maybe it'll get me to beat the game for once.

This mod honestly looks great and I'm excited but it still doesn't change enough of the map which happens to be my biggest problem with the game. It's a copy and pasted shit hole. I'm still happy about this mod but I wish someone would rework the maps to give the game a better e3 like experience. But at least we have Elysium coming!

I somewhat agree with you, the atmosphere in this mod is dark and gloomy, but it is not enough. The map is the same and has not changed. I am waiting for elysium.

It just confuses me. If Techland still had the textures and models of the e3 version then why did they downgrade and make new uglier assets for the current version? More importantly though why did they lie to us and gave us a worse product from what they promised us?
