A review of Hells Canyon Road in Idaho. It's an amazing twisting out and back road worth planning a multi day trip around including it.

Awesome. If you need/want any help info etc let me know. I'm mostly good with Washington & Oregon with some of Idaho and the top half of California.

Sorry to keep piling on the conversations, but starting 14:10 that is a FANTASTIC ride!

No worries man. Yes it is. Truth is, the year before this trip I found that road by accident. I meant to turn before that park and bridge and head south. Instead I ended up heading north on this road. Now it's a must do any time I'm going to be in that area. It's so good. As often as running without a GPS can turn bad, sometimes it turns out pretty good :)

Have you gone from Oxbow to Joseph on the west side of the river. I did it a few years ago. A paved logging road poorly marked and potholes but worth the effort.

I was going to make the same comment. Couldn't tell from any maps if that NF road was paved the whole way so took my KLR. Since made that trip a half dozen times on Versys 1k. Did you take the side road that goes up where you can look down into Hells Canyon?

Just curious, are you tracking and sharing your route via an app like Rever? Might help get awareness of what you're doing if you Shot the video, tracked and shared on a ride sharing platform, and even tied is all to a website post. Maybe these are ll things you're already doing. Just typing out loud here. 👍

Thought about it when Rever came out, but when I ride part of the point for me is to be off the grid as it were, away from all that...stuff. I don't connect my phone to my helmet to take calls or music, no GPS, no spouse tracking apps. Just me and the road. If I did the Rever thing (or GPS) I'd be having to figure out how to power the phone because it would use the battery....too much pfaffing for me :) I do publish route maps in the Video Descriptions and sometimes on my moto website as well so people can use it as a reference - best-motorcycle-roads.com/

Very true. I did a ton of technoldy fiddling during my adventure. Takes a bit of joy and relaxation out of the trip. Sort of paying off now though. Was worth it.

Glad to hear it and I agree that sometimes during the days I start to get frustrated, but two weeks later when I'm finishing a vid it feels good. I think it's just understanding that going in. IE: some trips with lots of filming, others without any just for yourself, etc. I took a year off and just rode and really enjoyed that a lot (not worrying about cameras, batteries and the rest.) If it's a business choice (IE: get some monthly support or sponsorships) then do whatever is needed. I get that. Teapotone wants to do bikes full time if he can so he works hard putting good things together, doing events and building his social media following. For me, I figure I'll give it another year to see if the product I am selling develops a customer base (hate to put it that way, but it's a lot of work/time and I'm a pretty pragmatic business minded person,) My passion is riding not cinematography. If I don't then I might continue to film with helmet cam and bike noise just so I can enjoy trips myself on rainy days, but I won't do 2 cameras with editing since it would be just for me at that point. @@KARMAkazeMoto

Well, I'm going to try to direct some viewers your way, especially since I'll be showcasing some rides in AK, and I might as well send trafic your direction for rides in the "neighboring" Pacific Northwest. Doing occasional rides for oneself without bothering to film is good advice. Of course, that'll be the day something happen that could have gone viral... had it been filmed. 😲
