PJ Harvey, Bjork, Fiona Apple, Dolores O'Riordan, Alanis Morissette, Shirley Manson, Beth Gibbons, Hope Sandoval, Kim Gordon, the 90’s female rock singers that I grew up listening to will forever be my idols. Unfortunately we don’t see much of these talents nowadays.

Are you from Japan? There are hundreds of talented female rock bands and artists there nowadays. Band Maid, Aldious, Brats, Lovebites, Nemophila, Destrose, Gacharic Spin, Lazygunbrisky, Mary's Blood, Disqualia, Scandal, Girlfriend, Doll$boxx, Lonesome Blue, Bridear, Hagane, etc. There are also some great female singers in Western music, like Skye Sweetnam from Sumo Cyco, Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless or Chibi from The Birthday Massacre. I'm a big fan of the 90's alternative scene as well :)

@HAL 9000 I too am from Edinburgh. We both played in bands at the same time. Her Dad was an academic at University of Edinburgh school of Agriculture (Professor believe it or not). She originally sang in a band Autumn 1904. We always thought she should have done lead vocals for Goodbye Mr McKenzie....in a way I was not surprised at how successful she became, but in a way I was since you never really expect people you know to become famous. Does that make sense?

Always vigg fan. Great band. When they were still playing smaller clubs got to see them while working at cotton club in Atlanta house staff At set break Shirley was coming off the stage, stepped down to the old milk crate we had as a makeshift stair . It cracked. Her foot went right through. Just enough tightened like a bear trap around the ankle. It took me and bouncer and bar back? To get her out of it. She walked it off like no problem. Great show. . Real rock bands then . Along same time in Atlanta smashing pumpkins at "the point " and Beck at the dark horse tavern basement gig . That time 90's music great shows in venues you were close enough to make eye contact with and feel the energy up front from musicians that were truly genius

You know that's a really great point. In my youth I had pink floyd to get me through those awkward years. Now I can't imagine what today's youth has to listen to to not hang themselves from the closest ceiling. The music now is homogenized garbage. I mean its all commercialized nonsense with no feeling or emotion. Just some 30 year boy/girl (who can tell) looking like a 17 year old, belting out a song that would not even appeal to a five year old.
