@@kebobs3727 SOP is to negotiate, but a hostage is a hostage its a police officers duty to protect innocent lives, basically saying "shoot em dead idc" is not an officer id want being an officer, negotiating is a tricky thing because you as cops they have no leverage meaning you either have to talk the people down, cede to their demands, or catch them somehow, there is never an option of calling negotiations off and letting them kill the hostage.

Kylie has shown the ability to actually rp well, but for some reason almost always loses that ability when things dont immediately go her way, so ban the character, if she continues in the same way on a new character, ban her entirely.

Angel is the worst cop I’ve seen, not valuing the life of a fellow officer or hostage would cost them their career. Really don’t think they should be allowed to continue this attitude, it’s toxic for criminals and leaves them to resort to shooting on sight if a negotiation can’t be made.

TheKillaShow That’s true, but Angel was the one who called the shots on the negotiations being closed and that it would be war. With the public execution that should draw a LOT of criticism on the actions of the officer. It doesn’t take away from how grave the act is but it makes it clear to some people that the police won’t protect them. Citizens don’t want to hear that a cop won’t protect them and do their job, nor would an officer like to know that they’d be betrayed by one of their coworkers.

It was a great series of RP, but it devolved and I can't lay full blame on Angel here. I don't know exactly how they're trained, but under normal circumstances, when a hostage taker changes the terms of an exchange it's considered a loss of 'good faith negotiation'. At which point, the officers cannot trust the word of the takers. Right? So, at that point the whole situation is FUBAR (The helicopter was there long before Eugene actually got released, for example. And at first, it wasn't intended to follow him, right?). I think it could've still been rectified, however, the hostage takers dropped too many names in front of Clarkson, to actually let him go. So they had to put him down, regardless. On the other hand, Angel definitely needs to work on failed negotiation talks. She clearly made several errors in things she said, once the good faith negotiations fell apart. But, I still think they would've killed Clarkson, simply because they dropped what Speedy and Buddha's name during the kidnapping. Either way, great stuff, and you can bitch about Angel all you want, but _she_ helped the whole situation unfold. She let Eugene go back into prison for a month so the RP could happen, and she suspended SOP to allow for the exchange. Has she made mistakes and maybe hurt RP in the past? Sure. But, without her, this whole thing probably never would've unfolded. So, at least give her SOME credit.

I don't think they wanted to kill Clarkson they really just wanted to try the whole taking a police officer hostage rp. They even said if they kill him they probably wouldn't be able to do this scenario ever again and didn't want too. Also from what I saw the only name dropping happened when they were off to the side out of range of Clarkson. Like I do give Angel credit she helped it all happen but just as fast she stopped it and for what she got Clarkson killed and Eugene still got away. Then to say "Next time you can just kill the hostage." like what cop says that. Negotiations are always going to benefit the criminals they are the ones with the leverage but it's about being smart enough cops to make it seem like the criminals are getting their way but actually setting up a trap to catch them, so even if the hostage gets killed the criminals get caught.

@@G_Kaz I think going into it, the hostage takers weren't all on the same page with regards to what they wanted to do with Clarkson. I think Kindal totally wanted to kill him from the get-go. I think Speedy had it right, that if they kill him there's no chance for this happening again in the future. And I think Buddha would've gone w/ Speedy's idea, had they not name dropped during the kidnapping. Beyond that, yeah, as I said, Angel definitely needs to work on her communication skills w/ regards to when things don't go the way she wants. Though, it's a difficult situation to be in when you feel as if the hostage takers have changed the demands mid-exchange. Once things fell apart, she definitely made things worse with what she was saying, and that's something she should address in the future. You can't win them all, and when you HAVE lost, it doesn't mean you throw etiquette and common sense out of the window. So, definitely something she needs to work on, imo.

I don't really care for the Angel character, but in terms of RP I think she is a necessary "evil" on the police side of things to balance out the scales between them and criminal. I also think an RP scenario should be done where she is suspended from the force for a while due to so many infractions against her while on the job.
