The BET era of this game is criminally underrated. I'm not even African-American but I watched the holy heck out of this. Spencer Christian was a competent host, and playing for a trip instead of 3x front game earnings didn't take a single thing away from the Relay bonus game (in other words, the producers didn't mess with a format that already worked). Like the original Jim Lange version, this deserved a far longer run on the airwaves than it got.

I miss the good old days of Black Entertainment Television: game shows, music videos, Rap City, Teen Summit. BET hasn't been "Entertainment" in almost 20 years. Hell, it technically isn't even "Black" anymore.

I remember watching this show when it aired. I especially remember the last challenge where you had to match song titles with the artist. This is truly a blast from the past. BET was different then..way more positive.

(1 of 2) Can't believe that the Spencer Christian version has way more episodes than the Jim Lange version (Christian's was on the weekdays instead of once a week). Unfortunately, this version is inferior to Lange's. Lifeless set, mediocre music (the original Triple Threat theme destroys this one by a country mile), which is really felt during the bonus round with the lackluster music played there. But the biggest sin is that Christian doesn't even bother to tell the contestants the correct answers to the song titles after the bonus round ends in failure. Stupid!

(2 of 2) The good news for Spencer Christian: He's better than annoying twat Alan Hunter (who substituted for Jim Lange whenever he was unavailable). The bad news: Spencer is not even close to being as good as Jim Lange, but as a replacement, I just love how he says they were so close and it was a great effort (at the end of the bonus round) even though it obviously wasn't! I guess the only positive out of this is that Triple Threat DID get a "second" season after all. Even as a mild disappointment as it is when compared to Jim Lange.

PS - Oh yes, these people in the bonus round are easily the worst contestants (based on the episodes I've seen) to play the Triple Threat Relay. Not just do they fail to use teamwork (after Spencer Christian reminded them to do it a FEW SECONDS into the game), but they moved way too slow. The result: We don't get to see all 13 song titles. PPS - Both families are so devoid of energy. It's like they don't really want to be there, which could explain the winning team's very poor performance in the bonus round. Compared these two teams to the Ray "Boom-Boom" Mancini and Melody Thomas-Scott teams from that episode.
