I found it easier to install the threaded rod into the light first, stick it in a little bit to get the nut on, then tighten the nut. Also, I used an angle grinder to "thin out" the plastic on the inside so the wrench could tighten easier. It would probably have been a lot easier if I gave it closer to a half inch from the back (so the drilled holes where nowhere near the round part where the mounting bolts go)
