It's not about the destination, it's about the journey. Have fun playing the game, challenging yourself and your friends instead of being concerned about the story. They wanted this to be inherently fun, and not forced fun. Even if this comment is as old as my cat, just had to put that out there.

If you play the game and you don't know what happens next, it creates suspense and emotions, making it better (at least for me) but if someone saw that clip before buying the game, they would be most likely very disappointed, because what's the point of doing something if you already know what will happen?

Why does everyone still keep blaming the Rabbids for "ruining the Rayman series?" You got what you wanted- The Rabbids no longer appear in the Rayman series and have been separated into their own series (Rayman Adventures doesn't count because those were just cameos), and Rayman returns with new games that are selling much better than the Rabbids series (as of 2014, the Rayman series sold $25 million units, while the Rabbids sold $14 million), and the newer Rabbid games didn't sell as well as the older ones.

I was a bit let down when the trailer hinted to a backstory, but we got nothing of that in the final game. The gameplay and music is perfect, but it would be great to have some story as well. Even just adding them as readable files in the game would've been enough. But thanks for sharing this info, knew nothing about it, despite being really hyped up when this game was announced.

It's a shame all this got cut. I was pretty damn excited seeing that shadow of what I also assumed to be Mr.Dark in the background. I was disappointed getting up to the last guy and just seeing it was a regular Teensie that looked like him. Usually things get cut due to time restraints, but it looked all laid out and ready to go from here. My guess is that they felt the plot might have been a bit too dense for younger children, who I'd like to think would be the target audience of this game besides long time Rayman fans. Now don't get me wrong, Origins is a FANTASTIC game, but it could have been even better if they'd just stuck with what they had. Kind of like what happened to Rayman 4/Raving Rabbids...only that pissed me off so much more as a kid when I found out it was completely different than what Nintendo Power showed...

it's dissapointing that we lost such a ravelling story from origins! imo, if they had been able to keep the script and story intact the way it was, Rayman could have finally turned back not only to his original platformer roots, but it could have re-sparked the love of the stories that followed Rayman in both rayman 2 and rayman 3. how i wish they could have kept the story more intact. as it is, rayman origins is just a rebirth of the platformer, and a recreation of a once awesome character into a wacky, goofy, lazy hero.... kindof a bummer.

I've noticed many people forgot about Rayman 2 and its villian, Razorbeard and the robot pirates. Would be a good oportunity to bring him back, although they used to scare me as a kid so I doubt kids today would cope with it. Being most scary games are toned down from the 90's, if remade or still ongoing.

The Robo-Pirates did a swell job at being an encroaching force bringing ruin to Rayman's world. When the game starts out we are immediately greeted by dark skies in which floats a mechanical pirate ship. We are told then shown it's full of enslaved denizens of Rayman's world under the command of. Even with his short stature the characters and world are strongly affected by his commands. Rayman's world is largely under control and near the end of the game the slaves the pirates taken by pirates has grown massively. As much as Rayman may bother Razorbeard his army still marches and does a lot of damage. When Rayman gets too close, Razorbeard finds the best machine to kill the boy with and faces him. Compare all of that with, The Magician/Ales Mansay. What little of a plan he does have is repeatedly being countered without him having much of an impact on the world and has to create a new plan. In Origins The Magician just had a group of lackeys and some machines. Then when Rayman reaches him he runs off. No last stand Razorbeard's Grolgoth. In Legends he never faces Rayman himself and still doesn't present himself as a threat to the world.

So much waisted potential this game COULD of had. Don't get me wrong, this game was cleverly crafted in some of the most finest in platforming mechanics of it's genre, but it could have been soooooooooooooooo much more. It probably doesn't help that Ubisoft is kind of digging a convuluted grave with some of their choices in recent years. What Ubisoft needs to do (and what Michael Anvel (creator of Rayman)) need to do is make a third game and implimemt all these features, so much could be added, and so much can be improved, like how about adding a different character besides ANOTHER Teensie, like why not Li the Fairy, she's awesome

The game manual actually does explain Rayman creation. (Im writing this from memory) He originally was going to have limbs, but zombie chickens (enemies from previous games) stole some of the lums required for his creation, so the nimphs were not able to give him limbs.

Rayman 1 and Origins are the odd ones out and one can be chalked up as first installment weirdness while Origins was intentionally designed to be closer to early Rayman.

Not sure if mentioned in the comments, but the reason the dragon turned into electoons is a reference to the original Rayman. All creatures in Rayman are supposed to be made of electoons (and a blue lum), when Rayman dies in the original Rayman, he turns into a bunch of electoons which float into space.

Holy Crap! Rayman would have had an awesome plot and game play! If only this had happened it might have had an awesome effect on other games and we could have gotten so much more from other games.

What a shame they scraped the story, the new one is the worse thing in this game imo. To be fair, it looks as dumb as a Raving Rabbids story, seriously. I didn't even KNEW the magician was the bad guy even when I've beaten the game and seen that final cutscene when he throws away his star!!

Best Rayman game for me! Rayman Origins is without a doubt my favorite game of all time.
