I just did something really stupid. I just received my Flywoo Explorer LR 4 HD V2.2 (thanks to your review!) and went t set it up using Betaflight 4.4. Betaflight absolutely terrifies me so I only use the basic options. I have the DJI goggles V2 and the black DJI FPV controller. I set up the Modes and OSD yesterday. When I was doing the modes I only had Beeper, GPS Rescue, Horizontal and Acro modes (both on AUX 3), no Angle. The Angle mode greyed out. This was the factory default. Today I was going to set up GPS Rescue to what others have found to work. Over night I found that getting Angle back was easy. All I had to do was to click on ADD RANGE. It worked. I then positioned the Angle to the top switch position where Horizon was and then moved Horizon to the middle switch position leaving Acro to the bottom switch position. After saving I realized I made a mistake. I did all this without the receiver being on. Now when I throw the AUX 3 switch on my controller to move between Angle, Horizon and Acro modes the yellow switch position indicator in the Modes tab of Betaflight does not move. The same is true with Arm, GPS rescue and beeper. As well in the switch Receiver tab, none of the horizontal bars move any more when moving the joy sticks or switches. Betaflight and my controller no longer recognize each other. Any idea how I can fix this? Is there a way I can undue activating Angle mode and moving Horizon back to where it was yesterday then saving. Would that fix the problem? I am hoping there a really simple fix. I am a tech challenged newbie. I hope you can help Cheers, Bill

Joshua thank yo for this informative tutorial! I am totally new to FPV, Betafligh, and associated things. I have been flying fixed wing models since u-control in 1957 onward through hard tube single channel radios etc. I am currently using Jeti and Exbus and I am setting up a GEPRC Cinebot 30 with a Jeti Rx in it running xbus. I have flown it and apparently successfully setup angle mode. No crashes yet! However the problem I am having is that for a reason I don't understand the Betaflight is not recognizing the switches when I try to set up other functions such as beeper, trainer acro etc. I went back and deleted all the ranges I had set up in modes and the switch setups in Tx. Then tried two set up the switch for Angle and Horizon on a switch and it is not seeing that when I throw the switch. What have I done that it is no longer recognizing the switches? Thanks

Failsafe mode is also one way to set up multi-quad switching for things like team racing. I have my TX16S set up so that the numbered 6-pos switch selects which of my 3 identical quads is “active”, which is accomplished by setting the ranges for each quad to put it in failsafe mode whenever it’s *not* selected. It also disables the VTX via the FC’s built-in pit switch via the “User1” mode on the same switch. Talon FC’s come setup with the “User1” mode to active the pit switch.

FailSafe: About the reason, it can be used just as a "return to home mode". Meaning, not for testing, but for actually activating it, e.g. if TX stick is broke during the flight or health issue, e.t.c. just to explicitly instruct quad to take over and help. In my setup I'm using AUX2 for all modes, so TX maps all the bells and whistles to single channel with 6-8 positions: 1. Acro (default, no mode activated) 2. Angle 3. Horison 4. 3D (actually I only use this one in simulators so far) 5. Acro Training (was default for the first week) 6. Return to home But this does not mean TX just have mapped 6P on it, there are more complex logic, like confirmation button, or quick angle (SH toggle overrides mode to Angle as a quick button to auto-level in acro, if I disoriented after hitting a branch or something, helps a lot during first months, also helps in simulators). Since TX is way more powerful and smarter and because more AUX in ELRS means - less frequent updates of AUX round-robin, I think even if you just use switches for modes (not 6P), it still makes sense to pack all of it into single AUX channel on TX. But for simulators TX also maps every mode to individual channel, and even oscillates them, because simulators usually expects HID controller and apart axes have only buttons. For this and other simulator-only things, I'm using CH16-CH31 that are never goes to real transmitters. This helps me to keep 1 setup and 1 model in TX for 3 quads and a simulator simultaneously. My point is - keep logic separate from transmission. TX have it's own brain and flexibility for you to make use of, AUX channels is just a way to communicate stuff, and BF Modes is just a way to interpret communication back to real action. Don't over pollute your AUX.

I use the FAILSAFE-TEST as some kind of a panic!Button. When someone plugs their Battery and is on the same VTX frequency as I am, then I'm blind far away mid-trick... Or when my Radio outranks my VTX in range, which is always the case, I need to hit the "RTH" because I'm blind. Or when I lose orientation mid trick and am about to crash.

Since then I run this double switch setup

A good example for two switches activating a single mode would be using the pre arm switch trigger the beeper and also having a switch that just triggers the beeper. This makes you quad beep right before arming as a warning to let others know you are about to arm. You could just set it to the pre arm switch but there are situations where you might want to use the beeper but not set pre arm, for example, someone looking for your crashed quad wanting you to turn on beeper.

That’s an interesting use. That would work well on my tinywhoop when I’m flying around my preschooler. If it beeps it bites! Later on in life she wonder why beeping noises scare her. Dji accomplishes "loiter mode" with a barrage of sensors...barometer + optical image for elevation, gps combined with optical for position. If you've ever seen a toy grade drone try to RTH(it's not recommended) you'll know why it's not in Betaflight yet (flyaways or worse). INav and Ardupilot support it, but still need additional sensors.

@Fly_High_FPV2 жыл бұрын
The downside of telemetry is increased latency. Racers may choose to disable telemetry to shave the latency to it's extreme limits. Look at the latency tests for ELRS, Ghost, and Tracer. The 2 fastest run no telemetry mode to get below 4ms of latency. Tracer is a hair slower because you can't disable telemetry. That said, i'm always using telemetry, and I'm even using the Crossfire NanoRX Pro that has 500mw of Telemetry broadcast power, because I want my openTX callouts for battery and LQ especially when i'm at long range 👍
@Fly_High_FPV2 жыл бұрын
Latency via jitter*
@jiatan_fpv2 жыл бұрын
Telemetry mode is a receiver setting, disabling telemetry in BF won't reduce the latency because the receiver would still be either in telemetry mode or in one way mode, and not receiving any telemetry from BF doesn't change that. Otherwise, good points.

Yes, the configurator is backwards compatible with older versions.

In 4.2 there used to be GPS Rescue mode. It is gone in 4.3? I cant find it...
@JoshuaBardwell2 жыл бұрын
It's still there. Maybe you haven't enabled GPS feature yet?

@@JoshuaBardwell thanks, in next video (config tab) I saw it wasn’t enabled and when I did, it popped up in modes 😀. A LOT of effort is in all these videos, kudos for everything!🙏🙏

now I'm wondering if I can use launch control to emergency hover in angle mode (like when the vtx cuts out for whatever reason). as in: will this apply to throttle input and hold that, or only pitch?

Hey Joshua. Got an issue with my Matek F722 HD FC. When I plug it into my PC, I get a blue flashing light and a red light, but even when holding the DFU button I can't get the FC to be recognized in Betaflight in DFU mode. I've downloaded all new drivers and files and nothing seems to work. Any ideas of what I could try. Also, I'm only getting three tones when battery connected to quad...any help is greatly appreciated....Thanks.

How do I remove a link and range? I added black box to a channel and I want to remove it
@JoshuaBardwell Жыл бұрын
There is an X button on the right side of the link or range.

If you want to open a huge can of worms, contact your dev buddies and tell them that it isn’t a black box, it’s a pair of orange boxes. That would be one interesting conversation………I know, it’s called that by almost everyone. But orange it is. Helps find them.
