[Betaflight Basics] Setting Up Your Motors & ESCs in Betaflight and BLHeli Suite

@@ImaginationTech As soon as o downloaded the ImpulseRc driver and opened it to my desktop i went back to BF and i was able to upgrade the Firmware to the level i chose and ot worked like a charm. Hopefully when other flyers run into this problem they can do what you suggested. Thanks again for the great results!! ✈️✈️

Just to get the obvious out of the way, did you plug in a battery? Next, it appears that this is a BLHELI 32 ESC, so you would use Blheli Suite (it's the application that DOESN'T look like a purple Betaflight)

Can I use only the blheli to tell the motors which direction to turn? My esc doesn't have the proper firmware to work with betaflight and I just replaced one motor and its going the wrong direction

Yes, definitely. It's only in newer BF versions where you can change motor direction, so the steps in this video is how we've always done it.

any idea why in configuration you would NOT have the "mixer" screen that shows motor direction? I cannot figure out why mine won't show

That's definitely weird. Just to get it out of the way, what configurator version do you have and what firmware on your flight controller? That's definitely not normal.

@@ImaginationTech Thank you for answering. No one seems to. The betaflight version is fairly new, got it less than a month ago however I will admit the flight controller version is VERY old.... from 2017 back when these x220s models were newer. I am sort of afraid to flash it. I'm worried like everything else so far it won't work and I will spend a week trying to figure out why lol. I am having a few other odd issues with the wizard and wondering if that is part of the issue.

Flashing would be the first thing I would try though. Next though, depending on your flight controller if it's an F3 (since it's a bit old, i doubt it's an F4), you may not be able to flash the latest firmware anyway, but I think 4.0 or 4.1 MIGHT still be flashable.

Hello there, Great tutorial!!. I'm a newbie and I'm building a Quad with 5" props. I'm using a speedy bee F7 stack, so now I'm facing a problem with the power or the throttle position, in the Betaflight motor menu for testing the motor the line of power instead of sitting at the bottom with the motor completely off they all at 1460 as an armed speed, and if I roll it down, instead of decreasing the speed it goes up, and the opposite way will do the same, looks like the complete off position for the motor is around 1500 sitting in the middle of the bars of each motor. How I can change this to the normal way, where the bottom of the bar the motor is off or in a no spinning position, and if I move the bar up the motor should start spinning faster. If there is anything I can do to fix this please share it with me I really appreciate all your help.

Sounds like you're in 3D mode. Check in Blheli if there is something of that sort, or in Config tab in the motors section if anything is out of place.

Hello there, thanks for the infomative video! But I am still having issues finishing up my build. My issue is with my transmitter and the quad. My transmitter seems to be working when I check on betaflight, it is bonded and I see the response from each switch on betalfight, but when I plug in the quad to arm it, it does not work. I do not get any response back from the quad. Can anyone help? Tnx in advance :)

Are your modes set? What error do you see when you look into the goggles and you try arming your quad?
