It's why any professional Classicl or Jazz musician can learn how to play any modern pop song within a few listens. A biologist can't become a physicist after reading one book and vice versa. The fundamentals of music ring true across all genres. The fundamentals of biology are not the same as the fundamentals of physics. I am not saying that he needs to be able to play classical music but even non musicians can tell that she did not sound good

The violinist sounded like she just picked up a violin a week ago. She sounds like a beginner even to a non-violinist. I have not finished watching it yet but the afro guy sounds very alternative, would have loved to have heard more from him. Won't be shocked if he's the actual musician.

Nah, you can clearly hear that she has played before. The piece she played in the beginning was definitely not a total beginner piece. She probably used to be pretty decent, but since she stopped playing 10 years ago, her technique is really rusty. She clearly had some musicality - a sense of rhythm and a pretty good ear (notice how fast she found the key, and also listen to her note choice, which works well with the harmony). You don't develop that in a week. But definitely not a professional with 20+ years of experience. If I had to guess (without knowing about the 10-year break), I would have said she's played for a couple of years.
