Yes, it's quite common. If you can be proficient at spotting one pattern, then gradually move to others and before long you will find something to do in each market.

I still cant figure out if when you see it at a certain point thats when you lay and expect it will go up or back and expect it will come down to lay off. So confusing 😢. Then i see graphs where the line ends up pretty straight going along so surely thats not what we want - we want drifts up and down 🙈

Thanks Peter, very interesting. Just to be clear, you actually entered with a Back and rode it down right? Whilst watching and listening I got the impression you got in with a Lay when you felt it had hit bottom and was on it's way back up.
@Mark_Robinson_3 жыл бұрын
He entered the market at odds of 2.48(lay) you can see that on the ladder screenshot, then the next screenshot was all his back orders(exit orders) waiting to be filled.
@edwardbroomhead44633 жыл бұрын
It was a lay trade. Entry when limited backing activity, exit when backing activity increased/ nobody willing to lay
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
I tend to operate on the right-hand side of the graph. As closer to the off the liquidity is higher. So I was looking to open with a lay bet here.
@zimkitch3 жыл бұрын
@@betangeltv Thanks Peter. I see it now, I was thrown by the amount of the lay stake and wondered how you staked such a random amount. I guess you placed round amounts but that was the the amount that finally got matched. Keep up the great work.

When you use automation to trade these horse racing events how do you do that, set that up, do you go in play, I just want to know how you set up automation and just trade it automatically without going in the red, what’s you strategy! Many 🙏
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
I've got many different bits of different automation. But in this example, you would use the current odds and distance from open, high and low to set a trigger. You exit is determine by something similar but limited by time.

It takes time and practice to do this type of trade but it is relatively straight forward and there is no "black magic" involved- and they come around very frequently. Nice explanation, Lord Peter of Webb.

Try and ignore Betfair SP as it's false most of the time. I haven't watch the video back, but probably meant or implied the final last traded price, the price at the start.

Nice video Peter - thanks. Any idea what the latest farce is on the Daq? they have US markets but nothing comes up on the links....have they folded?
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
Quite the opposite, they just gained their independence again. I doubt there can be much liquidity on the US markets.
@alanroberts28133 жыл бұрын
One more thing sorry, you said today you are manually trading 30 to 50 events today, are these all horse racing, what is the min a can trade in a day so all the races don’t overlap. If there are 4 meetings today, that’s 28 races, do you recommend I just trade 14 races that’s two tracks so they don’t overlap. How many would I do in the summer when there are lots of them, thank you.
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
The number of markets I trade goes up and down by the time of the year. In most markets, I want some time to look at the market. So in the winter that is harder than in the summer. But in the summer you could easily have 6 or 7 meetings with 6 or so races in each. At key times of the year I do trade Aussie racing as well and I do other markets. On any one day you have thousands to choose from.

Quick question, The volume bars along the bottom of the betfair graphs, are these backing activity? Laying? Or a combination of both?
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
Both. But it's important to note that the volume on Betfair is back + lay bets. So a £10 bet counts as £20.
@andrewrobinson96813 жыл бұрын
@@betangeltv thankyou, is it possible to create a graph that separates backing and laying activity? I've noticed the post on the forum regarding the betfair replica chart.
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
You can't specifically know what is a back or lay bet unfortunately. Because you can offer to the market you could be backing and it appear on the lay side. All you can do is infer backing or laying.

Hi Peter I know how to work horses market in live.. but sometimes its annoying to wait for live and I stay look at pre live indicators but for me its hard to understand the market. I see your videos but as Im a newbie in pre race.. do you have any ebook / pdf with some explanations?

Happy new year Peter, I would like to know how do I work out how much do I stake then scale up. So I start with £500 how do I know how much to trade with, then it goes to £1000, what is the best way to work out how much I should stake, thank you.
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
Trade using tick sizes. That will keep your risk in relation to your price. At the end of your week use a % of your bank to create your next week's tick size.
@lewiscray90522 жыл бұрын
The drying up of backing and change of direction often happens several minutes before the off. Do you get involved at this point or do you wait for more money to arrive?
@betangeltv2 жыл бұрын
Bet Angel alerts me if there is a big mover in the market. So I'll start watching it at the that point and will get involved when I see the backing slowly down or stoping.

10:45 - Looking at the numbers on the back side of the market, your back-bet is a big chunk of the money waiting to be matched. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you here 'controlling/driving' the market in some way? Okay, so the money is relatively small, but still, on a more liquid market, wouldn't your ability to invest greater amounts - on either side of the market - bury us 'poor people?' ;-) My point is this: should us 'Plebs' keep away from you 'big-boys?' :-)
@betangeltv3 жыл бұрын
If you can see money then you can oppose it. £50 per tick is tiny really in the steamroller like manner of a market. Liquidity builds as we head to post, so I would influence it much. Use it to your advantage. I you can see a position in the market, that may help you spot where the price will go or run out of steam.

why you are not explane live trading your strategy? after everybody can explan what happened....before... i also can said to you what happened yesterday but i cant what come the next day...

Perhaps watch some of the many live trading videos I've done, then read the comments where people ask if I can actually explain what I did and why. You can't please everybody all the time, unfortunately. Showing a video of somebody catching a fish isn't as useful as showing somebody how to fish so they can feed themselves in my opinion.

But you never teach what they mean and how to use them.
