It's a William Orbit track featuring Beth Orton, actually. It was released on Tribal America, with Spooky and Underworld remixes. I just found it on limited edition vinyl last week.

Probably one of my favourite Orbit's songs. Incredible.

And FYI, if anyone is fortunate to own the original vinyl 12" of this track, the Underwater mix by Underworld is theee sickest. It's the only mix I always played out in the early to mid 90's. It's too bad it was only released on limited vinyl, as far as I know.

was going down the interstate leaving a large city and tuned the radio to a little independent jazz station (that's not there any more) and this came on and I had to find out...finally the DJ goes..that was Water From A Vine Leaf by William Orbit....got to my town went immediately to the record shop found it was Strange Cargo III turned everyone I knew on to it even had a friend visit from out of state and first thing we got into the car to go bar hop and he blasts this song laughing like hell.

FYI, this IS a William Orbit track. It is off the album titled Strange Cargo 3, one of a series of albums by William Orbit with the same title. Not a "band" named Strange Cargo as inferred, and not a Beth Orton song as inferred. William Orbit has produced some of the greatest electronic artists for several decades including Madonna and Nitzer Ebb, and featured many talents on his personal behalf, and under his art direction.

this song has a sacred beauty that makes me feel the power of innocence again more than feel it takes me there not an illusion it facilitates a euphoric metamorphosis and transmits a secret divinity if i could perform anything for god this would be the one alas it makes me sad i cant be there but it carries the message that that doesnt matter --- it is even hopeful

May be a year-old comment, but it should be noted that Beth Orton and William Orbit co-wrote this song, and it's Beth Orton's voice in the song.

William Orbit wrote this and hired her to speak the lines on it. While recording, she started singing some of the lines instead.

Its William Orbit whom she was dating at the time..he asked her to do the vocals and was surprised she sang as well as she did and her career was off...

Just read that Beth Orton is an influence of Adele's, so I figured she had to be good. Had not heard of her before. Decided it was high time I did. I can hear the influence.

This is William Orbit's track. Why is Beth Orton being credited? She sang a simple loop that's used only in the last minutes of a 7 minute track.
@oooooooooooo2332
@oooooooooooo2332 5 жыл бұрын
thesuburbanelectric ... she changed many things inside the project... from live performances to a new approach towards musical expression... not leaving inside this kind of realm inside art a single sign of conformism... a spot pretty clear to see if you have the sight, but hard to fill even nowadays with this "talented" new generation of "female" "artists". This kind of art is more into creating moments... than creating hits... & this is one of those moments. Believe me... while working with Orbit... she left a seal that overpasses just 7 simple minutes in a lifetime...
